Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald paid a visit Saturday to one of his team’s biggest cheerleaders: Sen. John McCain.
McCain’s wife, Cindy, posted a photo of the trio on Instagram at the McCains’ Arizona cabin.
Fitzgerald and the 81-year-old Arizona Republican lawmaker — who has been battling an aggressive form of brain cancer for months — have been friendly for years.
In December, the football player penned a touching tribute to McCain for Sports Illustrated.
“When I think about Christmas, and I think about Senator McCain, I think of giving,” Fitzgerald wrote.
In a nod to McCain’s military service, Fitzgerald continued, “The sacrifices John McCain has made for our country, and especially the men and women he served with in the military, are incredible. I saw the very jail cell where he was held as a POW, and I tried to imagine what it must have been like to be him. I took a photo of myself next to his flight suit, the suit he was wearing when he got shot down. So powerful. So meaningful. Those images will never leave my mind.”
And of McCain’s health, Fitzgerald wrote, “Sen. John McCain again finds himself in a battle. This time it’s with cancer, and the treatment he’s undergoing is exhausting. I’ll wish him a Merry Christmas today, and I pray he lives another 20 years.”
McCain was diagnosed with glioblastoma over the summer. In July, he began chemotherapy and radiation treatment at the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix.

There is zero chance McCain survives this malignant tumor of the brain
It doesn’t matter if brain tumors are malignant or not
They grow they kill, it’s not tissue you can spare
Fortunately the tumor is relatively painless but the treatment isn’t
Excision and radiation are about it
Removing it can make subtle changes in personality or radical ones depending on location
Often they start as a benign astrocytoma which can be removed and radiated then usually in five years they come back as a starburst glioma of some sort growing quick.....
My dad went that course and after Mayo in Rochester he lasted almost five years to the date and had marked changes
McCain is already at the end phase
The specific location matters but these things can double in size in a few weeks but the danger is not the nucleus or core but all the tentacles which reach out everywhere
That’s what kills you and at end stage they seem to know the brain stem is where the action is
Plus like any cancer it’s stieals life sustaining nutrition so weight loss is common
My dad would have lived about the same without excision and radiation ....it’s a Sophie’s choice (look it up millennials)
Brutal on the dying and particularly the family....I can’t imagine having a young child go through it

It should be noted some cystic brain tumors if caught early don’t affect mortality much
Yes he is. I’ve got a good friend who has worked with him for years. Together they have raised tens of millions for all kinds of charities.

Everybody has a different style they prefer when it comes to their homes. I say, if you love your home and are comfortable in it, then it’s for you regardless of what others may think.

I agree with that and I have no problem with people becoming wealthy and using their money any way they see fit either. It just bugs me that McCain’s people are calling that a cabin and the media repeats it like good little lap dogs. That’s not what I would call a cabin.
