Shootings: Why Don't Schools Have Better Security
Mises Institute ^ | February 15, 2018 | Ryan McMaken

Whenever there is a mass shooting in the media, commentators rush to figure out on what to blame the latest violence. Predictably, those who want gun control blame gun control. Others blame mental illness — and perhaps a lack of government programs related to it. Some others blame racism or ideology, as was the case with the Aurora theater shooting when one ABC talking head concluded the shooter must a "Tea Party" member within hours of the shooting. And then there's the Republican politician who blamed the same shooting on “the ongoing attacks on Judeo-Christian beliefs.”

The odds of dying in a mass shooting remain amazingly small, as Healthline notes "The lifetime risk of dying in a mass shooting is around 1 in 110,154 — about the same chance of dying from a dog attack or legal execution."

Nevertheless, the need to create a theory showing exactly what causes these shootings remains strong in many observers. Often, these theories are followed up with some demand for a change in public policy, whether it be gun control, more health care spending, or changes in education and social policy.

What all of the strategies have in common, however, is that they depend on very indirect solutions related to social engineering while ignoring the most proximate cause of the tragedies in question.

I understand that the schools, establishments, and venues are partly to blame for these things. It doesn't do any good to just and cross your fingers hoping this never happens to you.

Because the chillin might be exposed to a big, evil nasty black GUN.

Or worse, an armed guard might save a bunch of lives.

The school board administrators suck dry the money coming in, with their inflated salaries.

Many of the school board administrators are so bent on making sure their “legacy” is so pristine, that any chatter of anything “gun”, other than “they are bad”, would cost them their position and fame.

Someone who wants to kill a lot of people will work with the circumstances that exist.
Change the circumstances and the killer will change his operational strategies and tactics.

The killers want to be famous. The Brown Shirt Media wants to sell “ink”. The libtards want gun control. It is an unbreakable iron triangle. I read someone noticed that streaking stopped when the media quit covering it. The libtards wont allow that.

That’s what I don’t understand. Why is it always with an AR15 or such. If someone really wants to kill a lot of people, there’s a lot of easier and productive methods than guns. Why not just poison things?

Why Don't Schools Have Better Security

Because the damn communists Democrats want this kind of killings so they will demand gun confiscation. Plain and simple.

Very simple.

The powers that be want this to occur.

The things they do not want dead, themselves, are protected.

Gun free zone.
Good security costs a lot of money.
Most educators don’t like the idea because they think it would be distracting or intimidating.

I can only speak for my own school. To quote my principal, “Guns make me nervous.” Seriously, that’s his answer. He will not even consider having access to a ranged-taser or pepper-spray. We do not even have a school cop most of time. Btw, we are an alternative school where most of our kids have broken the Law in order to be sent to us. Nice, huh? Needless to say, discipline is an absolute joke at our school.

At the risk of opening a giant Pandora’s box, the video games they play are of gun violence where they blow people away... in very realistic fashion... it’s really not that big of a leap to move on to real people in the mind of a very disturbed and mentally ill teenager.

All schools now have buzzers at the front door that are connected to cameras at the office, and school doors are locked. The weak link is who is on the other end of the camera... people are afraid to question others about why they need to be there and to avoid conflict they just let everyone in who rings the buzzer.

That's right....

The shooter at the school was seen, identified and was called in he was crossing the parking lot ‘just before’ the alarm was set off by the shooter and the shooting followed.....he later escaped by ditching his backpack and gun to run with the kids.

All this took thought and planning....Imo...the shooter deliberately planned what he was going to do...kill kids.... and frankly little could have been done to stop him short of one of the teachers armed.... perhaps... The fact he killed two outside first certainly attests to the fact he was prepared to shoot any who would try and stop him

Well hopefully we can get them to use something other than a gun to commit the crime, and then at least we won’t have all the gun control nonsense to deal with.
