The establishment media have saved Democrats from embarrassment by refusing to cover their struggling attempts to explain away the positive economic effects the Republican tax bill delivered for the working class.
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and other leading Democrats predicted the tax bill would be a disaster for the working class — “Armageddon” is how Pelosi described it — only to see more than three million American workers receive bonuses and pay raises as a result of the GOP tax cuts. Additionally, 90 percent of workers are expected to see an increase in take-home pay in 2018.
Pelosi, one of the wealthiest members of Congress, has consistently dismissed the bonuses that workers are receiving as “pathetic” and “crumbs.”
Democratic Florida Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, former chair of the Democratic National Committee (DNC), similarly struggled to explain the bonuses when confronted about them at a town hall. Wasserman first claimed that she hadn’t “heard of any bonuses over $1,000,” even though tens of thousands of workers have received bigger bonuses than that. (Apple, for example, gave employees $2,500 bonuses.) After establishing that misleading premise, Wasserman Schultz then claimed that $1,000 doesn’t go “very far for anyone.”
Republican have pointed to Pelosi and Wasserman Schultz’s comments as proof that the Democrats are out of touch with working class voters. Republican senators even released an ad mocking Pelosi for the “crumbs” comment.
But the establishment media have ignored the entire Democratic debacle. As of this article, the New York Times, the Washington Post and CNN have combined for zero articles about Pelosi’s “crumbs” comments, even as she has doubled– and tripled-down on them.
If Speaker of the House Paul Ryan had dismissed working class benefits from a Democratic bill as “crumbs,” Washington Free Beacon editor David Rutz argued Friday, “the press and chattering class would have a field day.” Rutz noted that CNN and MSNBC’s on-air coverage have similarly buried Pelosi’s comments from public view.
It’s worth noting: at the same time that they were ignoring Pelosi’s “crumbs” comment, some prominent members of the establishment media were instead advancing conspiracy theories about President Trump’s mental health.

I long to see a day when elections are not about who postures the best, but about who is actually most qualified for the job. And when politics becomes a discussion of what works best, rather than the promotion of a narrative that has little resemblance to reality.

Marie Antoinette Piglosi I got my pay advice today for my 1/31 paycheck. The new IRS withholding tables resulted in $180 more for the month, or $2160 more take-home pay for me for this year.
And Nancy, this increase in take-home pay will be noticed soon by everyone - and this is in addition to any bonuses they already got!
New York, Connecticut, and New Jersey are filing suit to overturn the tax law. Look for California and other 9th circus states to file there while the former file in the 4th circuit. Be interesting to see how fast the SC takes to slap down the inevitable rogue judge the loonies find to issue an injunction.
Nancy Pelosi is like Hitler in the Bunker. She is giving orders to nonexsistant divisions as she did years ago. The media will ultimately make no difference. There will be an increase in pay checks.
Income tax is however trivial when compared to the increase in wealth of assets in IRA’sand 401K’s. That increase is historical. More wealth has been created in only a few days in late ‘17 and January ‘18 than ever before. It’s not just extra money in the bank, it is wealth, true wealth , net worth.
It is said that many, infact most, do not pay much attention to their IRA/401K accounts. However , some do. that some will spread the word and even those that don’t have the financial where with all to keep up will come to realize they are suddenly much better off.
Nothing Nancy can say or do will counteract this devastating fact...... Average run of the mill Americans have become wealthier as they just sat there watching.
The Dems are being buried in “crumbs”....roll ‘em over a few times and pop them in the deep fryer....
Bet dear Maxine Waters will bring it all into focus very elegantly when she gives the Democratic party response to President Trump’s State of the Union. This will be a priceless moment as she defines today’s Democratic party.
She is not doing it. Patrick Kennedy has been tapped to do it. He told a NECN interviewer his biggest goal is not to suck.
The dim leadership is made up of uber wealthy people.
To them, $1,000 is a rounding error.

At LEAST I would say also, I actually think it was WELL over twice. I can’t believe how many people accept the official inflation figures as gospel. I am 73 and I clearly recall when men supporting families were very happy to earn as much as one dollar per hour. Now you could earn twenty an hour or even more and struggle to survive depending on where you live.
That should be an amazing example of a fool trying to act like a wise person.

It is Armageddon, for her and her partisan camp. All they have left to run on is how rude Trump is, which is precisely what his base loves about him. He’s rude to all the right people.
They don’t even count food in when they concoct those inflation figures. Some foods have increased in price by more than a hundred percent over the last ten years.
I’m on a fixed income. Well, not fixed, but shrinking. My SIL, who is an LEO, makes the same money I do. In terms of purchasing power, wages are *way* down.
Come November the Dem line will be "pay no attention to your paycheck or the booming economy", we'll "fight for you". Sure thing.
IIRC, Obama did NOT give a penny in 4 of those 8 years. In his last year, he gave us .3 %. POINT THREE PERCENT. He gave the Federal employees 2 & 1/2 percent, while we got .3
I don’t know where he thinks WE buy our gas—milk-bread-clothes-electricity-etc. that we only needed .3%.
He was a complete piker when taking care of Soc Sec recipients. Then he managed the “Great Car Crushing” of the country- and that absolutely hampered us to get parts off of scrapped/salvaged cars. He wanted them crushed.
