Someone "pushed the wrong button" to send out a false alert to warn of an inbound ballistic missile alarm to Hawaiians, according to Hawaii Gov. David Ige.
The incident occurred during an employee shift change, Ige added while speaking with CNN.
Cellphones, television, and radio stations received the morning emergency alert, which claimed it was not a drill.
Local officials and the U.S. Pacific Command have since confirmed that the emergency alert was sent out in error to residents of the island chain, which recently tested out a Cold War-era nuclear warning siren in response to North Korea's missile and nuclear weapons programs.
Lawmakers and Ige are seeking answers for what exactly happened so that the mistake will not be repeated.
"While I am thankful this mornings alert was a false alarm, the public must have confidence in our emergency alert system. I am working to get to the bottom of this so we can prevent an error of this type in the future," Ige said in a statement...

Perhaps, much like Feinstein, whoever accidentally hit the button had the COLD, yo? /s
Just watched Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D) being interviewed on FNC earlier today. She is an idiot. Seriously.
The article states at the end that is was a State of Hawaii Emergency Management FUBAR event, not NORAD or Federal. To be sure the blue state dumbocrats will not take the blame and will probably say that President Trump accidently pushed the button while sitting down in his golf cart. Wait for it.
JMHO, Gabbard along with every one of the “someones” involved with this witless crap needs to be in the company of a squad of Marines on the way to the nearest hard core Navy Brig.
This ain’t a damn game.
The ultimate takeaway, well stated and concise. Thanks.
Because that’s probably when the office “computer guy” showed up for work.
Note to self. “Buy stock in Hanes & Fruit of the Loom”
Accident? Maybe.
But then again, maybe not.
This false alarm will make it easier to garner support from the left for a preemptive strike on No. Korea.
The problem now is that next time it could be real, and people will think it is BS.
Agreed that there should be serious consequences, worse than losing ones job. Indeed some people may have had medical emergencies. In the early morning to wake up to such a shock.
Some time behind bars for everyone involved, and it will be less like;y to happen again.
So, it takes only one button push? and it cannot be rescinded after being pushed?
Actually, there was a State Senator from
Hawaii blaming Trump on CNN.
That was not a mistake. Someone was screwing around.
