What the Heck Happened in Alabama?
American Thinker.com ^ | December 15, 2017 | Lloyd Marcus

Years ago, my brother David gave me a nugget of wisdom. He advised, "When faced with a crisis, stabilize your emotions before responding/acting." Thus, I thought it best to wait a day or so before sharing my thoughts about Roy Moore losing in Alabama.

Moore's loss simply does not make sense. Alabama is a red state. It is hard to believe Alabama voters chose Jones, who supports killing babies even at the point of birth, over 38-year-old unproven sexual misconduct allegations against Moore. Yes, I smell the foul stench of Democrat voter fraud in the Alabama senate race.

We've heard the term partial-birth abortion, but most folks don't know what it is. The abortionist takes the entire baby out of its mother except for the head. He then shoves scissors into the baby's brain to kill it. Planned Parenthood is elated when abortionists can murder the baby without too much damage to the baby's head. Intact heads sell for premium prices. Jones supports this horrific evil.

Rather that believing Alabama voters knowingly chose a man who supports murdering babies and trafficking their body parts, I tend to believe fake news media successfully hid Jones' hostility towards unborn innocent human life. Leftists celebrate Jones' mindset because Leftists deem killing babies environmentally responsible; necessary to save the planet from too many humans. Step on a spotted frog and Leftists are outraged at you!

Like nothing we've seen before, Leftists saturated the airwaves, social media, and fake news media with 24/7 attacks on Moore, his wife and anyone supportive of him.

I’m not arguing against those points, either.

I’m only pointing out that democrat cheating represents a massive breakdown of the system while weaker candidates running is a very limited problem.

And the state of our media is a major sector of the democrat system of cheating.

“Of course Moore was going to lose this race.”

But for the underage female allegations, which came only after the primary and after the run-off, Roy Moore would have won handily despite his lackluster campaign and any other flaws. So all this stuff about how we all should have known how he was doomed to lose and supported Mo Brooks ignores the fact that nobody anticipated the girl allegations.

You are well focused and correct.

Whose fault is that?

I mean -- Isn't there an outrageous allegation of some kind against a Republican candidate pushed out in the late stages of almost every hotly contested campaign?

Winning candidates (and winning campaigns) figure out how to deal with this sort of thing. Moore botched it about as badly as he possibly could.

Now, if some Freeper had posted an article before the primary and run off warning us that Roy Moore could not win because of underage female and assault allegations, then I would be impressed. But that did not happen so all of this about Roy Moore never having been able to win is just Monday morning quarterbacking.

That's a valid point. But some of us took a lesson from 2016 and refrained from posting anything here to undermine a Republican candidate while the campaign was going on. I had huge reservations about Moore but had almost nothing to say here on FR about his campaign while it was going on. This was something for the voters in Alabama to deal with, and a deep "red" state like Alabama surely didn't need my input in a campaign that shouldn't have even been a contest.

I was absolutely livid about some of the things I saw in the late weeks of the Trump campaign in 2016, but I held my tongue and only would have posted them if he had lost.

Yes he did mishandle the allegations badly. In part, that was because (IMO) he knew that he could not deny dating teens while he was over 30 but admitting that would not fly in 2017 (even though it was really not very weird back in the day in Two Dot, Alabama).

IDK, I do think that the nature of the allegations (pedophilia) and the date of the alleged offenses (forty years ago) was somewhat unprecedented.

This guy had LOSER written all over him, and an awful lot of people in Alabama could see that from a mile away.

I couldn't help but notice that it seemed not ten seconds had passed between the time CNN called the race and President Trump fired off a sincere congratulatory tweet to Doug Jones. Trump likes winners and he left loser Moore standing in the dust in his rear view mirror.

Why do people think Moore was such a shoe-in? He had one single victorious statewide race under his belt in 2012 where he barely squeaked past the finish line receiving 400,000 fewer votes than Mitt Romney.

He ran two gubernatorial campaigns; 2010 and 2016 getting thoroughly trounced both times.

In what delusional world did Alabamans think this guy was senate material?

I think Moore votes were destroyed in key precincts. Dems learned they just can’t add votes because the totals get too high, They learned they have to eliminate R votes and claim their voters “didn’t show up.” Hard to believe Jones took 90% in some precincts.

Looking at the senate, anyone or anything would meet “senate standards”.
