John Conyers Is the Albatross that Democrats Deserve

There are sexual harassers, and then there is John Conyers, the Democrat from Detroit who made his congressional office an adjunct of his libido.

The evidence suggests that Conyers believed that as a 27-term congressman, he was entitled to the Washington, D.C., equivalent of the Ottoman imperial harem.

He routinely hit on his female staffers, and his office was a den of sexual intrigue — allegedly featuring a jealous wife and a vindictive mistress — that properly belongs in a Bravo reality show if the network ever extends its franchise to Capitol Hill.

A political party is rarely provided an easier test case for its bona fides. Conyers is an 88-year-old man who finds it increasingly difficult to carry out his duties. He holds an exceedingly safe seat that, should he resign, will be taken over by another reliably progressive Democrat. In this case, the political cost to the party of showing that it’s serious about “zero tolerance” for sexual harassment is almost nil.

One women said in an affidavit that one of her duties was “to keep a list of women I assumed he was having affairs with and call them at his request and, if necessary, have them flown in using Congressional resources.” Not having to bother with the logistics of your own mistresses is evidently one of the privileges of being a public servant.

Using taxpayer money to fly in mistresses should be treated as theft and punished accordingly, whether its a Democrat or a Republican.

And yet Rich Lowry and the rest of the NRO never-Trumpers voted for Hillary Clinton.

As a former Detroiter, we all knew he was scum back in the early 70’s but he had the Black Empowerment vote that kept him and other jackals in the Detroit City Hall and legislatures forever.

One shining example is former Mayor Coleman (Marbles in his mouth) Young. Kenneth Cockrel and so many others.

All these politicians were the epitome of corruption, deceit and misconduct yet they were elected time and time again because they were African Americans ONLY.

The fact that he was able to hold onto power for so long shows us that our system is rotten to the core.

Reporting things like this about a Republican means a Pulitzer Prize.
Reporting things like this about a Democrat means unemployment and black-listing. There are plenty of examples proving this.

Why is it that sexual predators, embezzlers, and other corruptocrats are only “discovered” when they are at the end of their careers? (Or in the case of Republicans, when they are running in a close race)

I'll see you Coleman and raise you one Rep. Bobby Rush (D) of Illinois. He has the worst of speech impediments and, yes, a long history of corruption.
