Republican poll: Moore 12 points behind Democrat Jones
The Hill ^ | November 15, 2017 | Lisa Hagen

Posted on 11/16/2017 12:53:12 AM PST by Pinkbell

Alabama GOP nominee Roy Moore is polling 12 points behind his Democratic opponent Doug Jones in the wake of allegations that Moore had initiated a sexual encounter with a minor, according to a poll from the Senate GOP’s campaign arm.

The National Republican Senatorial Committee’s (NRSC) poll, which was obtained by The Hill, found that Jones was leading Moore by a double-digit margin, 51 to 39 percent. The polling was conducted the day after The Washington Post reported on the allegations.

The survey also found that Moore’s favorability has dropped to 35 percent, compared to an NRSC poll from October that had him at 49 percent. Politico first reported about the poll.

Moore’s polling lead and favorability have declined since the two NRSC polls conducted prior to the allegations. Surveys from early October and early November had the former state Supreme Court chief justice leading by 16 points and 9 points, respectively.

The release of the poll comes days after the NRSC removed its name from a joint fundraising committee that would help fundraise for Moore with other GOP groups ahead of the Dec. 12 special election.

In the days since the allegations, some public polls have found Jones closing the gap with Moore and some other surveys showed him in the lead.

Past polls conducted by the NRSC, before the allegations, found Moore easily leading by double digits.

Moore has repeatedly denied the allegations, saying he's staying in the race. But more Republicans, including leadership, have called on him to withdraw.

I don’t trust their judgment if they give the seat the the RATS. We are watching it happen.

Here is a great opportunity for Roy Moore’s attorney. A press conference in which he says his client will drop out of the race if Al Franken resigns.

of course he is going to lose. just like Sharon Angle, Christine O'Donnell, Mourdock and all the others. we all want to drain the swamp but that's not going to happen with candidates that are not well-vetted. honestly I don't think we need another perv trolling the malls. What kind of DA or judge calls a school to pull a girl out of class so he can flirt? According Gena Richardson, who had previously refused to give Moore her home number: A few days later, she says, she was in trigonometry class at Gadsden High when she was summoned to the principal’s office over the intercom in her classroom. She had a phone call. “I said ‘Hello?’ ” Richardson recalls. “And the male on the other line said, ‘Gena, this is Roy Moore.’ I was like, ‘What?!’ He said, ‘What are you doing?’ I said, ‘I’m in trig class.’

And you just buy all this Hook Line & Sinker exactly as they tell it.? Even if it’s true there’s absolutely no evidence that it’s ever been a pattern in his life in the last 40 years. He’s guilty of trying to date younger women even if it’s true.

>>I do not care if Moore has the clap, the People of Alabama should elect him.<<

LOL! I sure like the way you think. Don’t often hear that word used anymore. And I feel the same way you do.

Yeah, well been thinking of my grand daddy over Nov.11, he survived Vimy Ridge as a horse drawn ambulance driver. He was a consumate horseman. When he said “clap” it rolled out like a carpet. I guess my thinking about him lately put that word in my mind.

Yes, the Canadians done good at Vimy Ridge. I think that was somewhere in France, probably in 1917.

Look, if he’s guilty, he should step down, but that story is odd. I have never heard tell of a man calling a school, the school saying, “Ok, sir, we’ll patch you on through and calling the student to the office.” Now, maybe they would do that if it’s a parent or a guardian of the child, but a strange, unrelated male? What kind of school would have such a policy? That sounds incredibly dangerous. Maybe it was the time period, but even then, it seems odd and dangerous. I think former workers at the school should be asked if that was their policy to patch anyone through. One thing is for sure, if it was, it would NEVER happen today.

Unfortunately, that is classic MSM propaganda. Anyone who disagrees with their agenda is “crazy” or “radical”.

It may be a problem with my computer. Thanks.

Are some of you people nuts? Our side is the side that believes in the law, right? You might agree with his positions because he claims to be a devout Christian, but Moore has defied the US Supreme Court and federal orders. He was kicked off the Alabama Supreme Court.

SMH, It sucks reading this from a long-time Freeper. Yes, we all should respect the rule of law but as far as it goes with FedGov, they have been out of control for a long, long time. It's been un-Constitutional for a long, long time. These are facts that all Freepers should understand. It's this whole corrupt FedGov establishment and their media that is trying to deceive Americans to keep out someone who is a threat to their corruption.

You can say all what you said and cower in fear. Or we can elect good people like Judge Moore who have demonstrated and are willing to challenge the corrupt status quo. We'll never win if we continue to cower in fear of these people and all their terrible shenanigans.

I may have come across as harsh, but the last thing Moore needs to do is to resign. Although, it would please me if he resigned from the Republican Party and went independent. I’m happy to see the Alabama GOP has the stones to declare their support of Moore.

Look at the issue from the point of view of an Alabamian. Alabama conservatives chose a candidate but the Elites are determined to steal our election and foist an unwanted candidate on us. If it were your state, you would be furious, correct?

I apologize if I came across as rude but, I reiterate, we have the right to choose our own Senator. We don’t appreciate “our betters” trying to disenfranchise us. Especially since Moore is clearly being railroaded.

As I’ve stated several times, I don’t care about electing a Republican. I want to elect a conservative.

I refuse to vote for any GOPE candidate because they are just as bad as the Democrat. In the infamous words of Shrillary Clinton, “What difference does it make”?

Your nuts if the governor of a state can call off the election based on political attacks. Really?

Moore will win btw. We are not stupid, well 47% of us are since that will be the vote total for the communist/democratic nomination. Much closer than it should be without the GOPe throwing their bitch fit into it, they (GOPe and communist Democrats are the same) and will lose.

Despite potential political fallout, she does have that power in Alabama. As of a couple days ago she said she would not do it.

But perhaps something has changed. That something is Gloria Allred. Could the GOP file an action in which a judge would grant a Temporary Restraining Order to holding the election because of Gloria’s potentially fraudulent evidence? That evidence, if indeed fraudulent, is going to be disenfranchising voters and clearly cheating Moore. As an aside, on the Katy Turn tape, Allred sounded really out of it and her usual fast talking was very slow and she had difficulty. Is something wrong with her?

So you still think your “call off the election” is the right thing to do? The moral thing to do? The Mitch the turtle McConnell thing to do? I don’twill post back December after Moore wins btw.

If Moore wins that will be great. In this case, I will be very glad that my assessment was wrong. Oh, gee, how can you ever forgive me? I don’t deserve to have an opinion and should leave FReeRepublic.

I am glad you have an opinion. We are free to have them. I think that we should all learn from our mistakes more than our victories (correctness but that didn’t sound right). We will see on December 12 if the knee jerk reaction of outsiders and people who aren’t involved in the decision are correct or if the constituent of Alabama reject the jump to your death bull shit that people here subscribe too often.

I do think I’m correct but more importantly I hope your wrong.

Post away so I know the emotional nonsense response to avoid. The Mitch McConnell view of local politics. Importantly do you still hold that opinion / assesment that Moore is guilty and the governor needs to cancel the election (not that she has that power and stated she will vote for Moore)?

Stop your bull****. I have not said that Moore is guilty. That is totally intellectually dishonest. Only the parties involved know the truth. My interest is in not losing a Senate seat in a deep red state. If Moore wins, that is great. I would love to see media whore Gloria Allred vanquished.

Strategy and opinion changes as we are watching the Kabuki theater unfold. Dismiss it if you so choose, but for now I am very concerned about the polling. Moore has dropped precipitously since the coordinated hit job began.

Allred may well have introduced fraudulent “evidence” in a US Senate race that is certainly affecting it. Unless the dynamic is changed, the Dems are going to steal a seat.

The charge of attempted rape is far more egregious than the other alleged transgressions. That is why I believe the Gov should put the election on hold if Allred refuses to turn over the yearbook for forensic analysis. Moore’s attorney should have already been in court in front of a friendly judge with a motion to force the analysis. Why hasn’t he? Does he feel his client has a stronger position by alleging a forgery and hammering on Allred’s recalcitrance? If so, that is a dangerous game.

It is neither unreasonable nor emotional to want the truth about something significant that is affecting the election. Unless I have missed something in the Alabama statutes, I believe the Gov does have the power to postpone. She may be calculating, however, that the potential political price to herself is not worth it.

Finally, I have absolutely no use for Mitch McConnell. He is part of the problem in DC and should retired years ago.

I don’t even want to respond any more until December 13. Your not involved in this. It’s internal to the state of Alabama. We will do a Bama ;) bit better of choosing our Senator than California does that’s for damn sure.

People piled on quick and panicked. Played right into the GOPe and communist liberals desires. That’s what I have issues with. So damn quick to jump instead of planting your feet firm and saying no I will not abandon my position or my family or my friends or my brothers inspire of accusations that come from nowhere and 50 years ago.

look at the map in this article https://www.nytimes.com/elections/results/senate-special-election-primary-runoff-alabama

Do you think the Dec 12 election will be close - no. Senator Moore will be seated. Is he the best choice - idk. Luther burnt his bridge to the future career as a senator. Dumb move IMHO he should have gone all in for Moore and kept an eye on Shelby seat. You

Shelby and Sessions even disappointed me and I had high expectations for Sessions. The verdict is still out on Sessions but it doesn’t look good.

Since we had our disagreement, things have changed dramatically. I really do hope you are right and I was wrong.

It took a disgusting POS attorney who is about an hour away from me in SoCal to perhaps save Moore. If Moore wins this thing, he can thank Gloria. Before she came to town, with the numerous women’s accusations, he dropped like a rock. She overplayed her hand big time. If enough people believe that the yearbook signature was a fraud, Moore will need to send her a very expensive Christmas gift.

Gloria’s appearances have been even worse than Moore’s on Hannity. Remarkably, some “journalists” actually challenged her to submit what she had for forensic evaluation. Her refusal unless Moore appears before the Senate, something that can never happen, was a mistake of epic proportion. She and her client look like total phonies.

This thing could still take another turn because Gloria has to know she has really effed up. But can she afford to have the yearbook analyzed? It could cause bar discipline if it is phony.

Get out the vote and save this seat.
