BREAKING: FIRST CHARGES FILED IN MUELLER INVESTIGATION (CNN)

Washington (CNN) — A federal grand jury in Washington, DC, on Friday approved the first charges in the investigation led by special counsel Robert Mueller, according to sources briefed on the matter. The charges are still sealed under orders from a federal judge.

Plans were prepared Friday for anyone charged to be taken into custody as soon as Monday, the sources said.

It is unclear what the charges are. A spokesman for the special counsel's office declined to comment.

Mueller was appointed in May to lead the investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election. Under the regulations governing special counsel investigations, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who has oversight over the Russia investigation, would have been made aware of any charges before they were taken before the grand jury for approval, according to people familiar with the matter.

On Friday, top lawyers who are helping to lead the Mueller probe, including veteran prosecutor Andrew Weissmann, were seen entering the court room at the DC federal court where the grand jury meets to hear testimony in the Russia investigation.

Reporters present saw a flurry of activity at the grand jury room, but officials made no announcements.

Mueller is authorized to investigate "any matters that arose or may arise directly from the investigation," according to Rosenstein's order.

The special counsel's investigation has focused on potential collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia, as well as obstruction of justice by the President, who might have tried to impede the investigation.

CNN reported that investigators are scrutinizing Trump and his associates' financial ties to Russia. Mueller's team has also examined foreign lobbying conducted by former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort, former national security adviser Michael Flynn, and others. His team has issued subpoenas for documents and testimony to a handful of figures...

A prosecutor can indict a ham sandwich. Can they get a conviction?

Podesta could be the one. Perjury would be low hanging fruit with him.

Can’t be. He’s not a republican.

Two possibilities:

1. Manafort. He is arrested on Monday, held without bail in a supermax prison and waterboarded for evidence against Trump.

2. A simultaneous indictment, plea agreement and grant of immunity for Loretta Lynch, James Comey, Andrew McCabe, John & Tony Podesta and all of their respective staffs in which they plead guilty to traffic violations for double-parking on Pennsylvania Avenue while receiving immunity for any and all other criminal conduct they may have engaged in before, during or after their time in office.

Exactly. Something had to be done and quickly so the press would not have to cover that story, especially after the informant was released from his gag order - the information he will provide could be some of the damaging ever revealed, but it will not be covered one single bit.

Looks like he ran in to indict someone because there were calls for him to resign. Looks pretty bush league.

Could be Mueller trying to secure a case in order to keep other investigations from gaining access to not only what he has found but other witnesses that are tied to this entire mess.

Considering the partisan composition of mueller's team it will be someone close to the President or his campaign and will probably be related to a conspiracy.

This is the dims wet dream.

So they will do the Manafort raid and take-down and have him arrive at court in shackles. What a joke. All they need to do is call his lawyer and tell him to come on in.

Creepy timing and given to CNN to bail them out. Remember how many Hilary lawyers are working for Mueller.
