The sheriff said about 400 of those are still missing, and most are expected to be found safe. But the death toll is expected to continue to increase.

On my local news, they are already blaming PG&E for this.

This is tragic. But I am wondering how people get trapped in this kind of fire. Are they not evacuating these towns?

“On my local news, they are already blaming PG&E for this.”

What is PG&E?

Hm. So can PG&E be sued so the ratepayers can pick up the tab ?

It’s a tragedy, but I remember a few years ago people were saying that it was California’s environmental regs that were to blame in many cases for these out of control fires.
Are those insane laws still in place or is this totally unrelated?

People woke up to raging fires already consuming either their homes, or their neighbor’s home. I have read many stories from sfgate.com about folks diving into pools to save themselves, people fleeing and not making it. Folks stuck in wheelchairs. Ultimately, very sad. Then there was our friend Morford a columnist for the SF Chronicle. He didn’t disappoint and somehow turned it all around to bash Trump somehow. Jeez, what a maroon.

Our fire is currently 45 percent contained and holding at 6100 acres and moving away from us. That is good. The second time received mandatory evacuations this summer. Well October isn’t exactly summer, but you get the idea.

The devastation in the Northbay is immense. Go to sfgate and check out the collection of photos to get a grip on what is happening and still happening. The town of Calistoga (?) the entire town is evacuation. Still no end in sight at the moment.

Fires like this are no joke. I have family out in the West, and they treat fires like tornadoes. When they start, you scoot.

I have seen the after effects of prairie fires. Heard the stories. One old bird was stuck in a box canyon when the fire in the pines sealed her off. She survived by jumping in a pond, but the horses did not.

Prayers to those in the flames.

Freeper Califreak posted:

My son texted me this morning.

Guy he works with has been hauling horses out or the fire zone all week.

He said they caught SIX people trying to start fires in Santa Rosa.

For some reason the media is NOT reporting this.

My mother called this morning.

Last night around midnight someone had set a car fire in the middle of the road in front of her house.

She is on the outskirts of town in a little valley. There is a dry creek bed in front of her house with lots of dead vegetation and some giant eucalyptus trees. It is also a very windy area. Fire could spread to Vallejo, Benicia and Cordelia.

Maybe all you people were right about arsonists being responsible.

Is it jihad or some kind of sinister distraction or agenda 21 antifa type thing?

It’s starting to look more coordinated by the day.

PCG (PG&E common stock) is down about 13 points (from 69) in the past 2 days. Over 8 points today.

I don’t know how anyone would be able to ascertain whether falling PGE lines cause the fire(s) or were caused by the fires.

That said....somewhere in here, PCG is possibly a buy. Not until it’s thoroughly puked out which could take a few more days.

What percent of these fires are a result of natural causes?
What percent are caused by arsonists?

I’d say it’s 80/20 in favor of arsonists.

They are going to have a higher death toll than Peurto Rico. And Peurto Rico was hit with a Category 5.

I think the fires started naturally, by that I mean that they were started by high winds and electrical lines coming in contact with trees. Since the fires started I do belive based upon reports that there are arsonists lighting fires for their jollies. How much damge those fires have created I do not know. I know of one report early on a few days ago where one arsonist was caught and the fire was limited to around an acre.

The news of the fires will be local as they had their couple of days of coverage. As for local news not reporting the arsonists. It is very possible that they do not know in the flood of information, or that they are being asked to keep that quiet right now so as to not encourage other fire bugs from crawling out of the woodwork.

belive: Believe. Edit...the news of the fires will be local as national coverage gave it their couple of days or couple of cycles....time to move on...there is a sex scandal to report....
