HOUSTON, Texas — A New York firefighter currently working as a first responder in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey got his first taste of a Texas icon — Whataburger. His reaction tells the whole story. The fast-food restaurant chain that operates nearly 700 stores in Texas set up a food service operation for Hurricane Harvey relief workers. An unidentified New York firefighter stepped up to get his first taste of the often bragged about Texas burger. The skeptical fireman said, “Texas guys wanna tell me ‘This is a burger,’ this is the official Texas burger,” he said as he prepared to take his first bite. “I don’t think so, but we’re gonna see right now.” Another New Yorker can be heard off camera saying, “Forget about it.”

“Long Night Of Obama”

Very accurate description! I will now use that when talking or writing about him or his administration thanks!

I’m a big fan of their Jalapeno Cheddar breakfast biscuits. When in Houston on business, that’s my go-to breakfast. The last week I was there, the place was closed up with guys working on the people. I hope they were doing repairs and not closing the place down.

I once drove 300 miles out of my way just to have another, but sadly found that the place was only a pile of bulldozed rubble.

You can't be serious?

...one of the best burgers I ever had was in a little mom and pop luncheonette called Pat’s ....fresh beef, not frozen ( no pattie) fried onions and lightly toasted bun...of course that’s fifty years ago *smiles*...and it cost 50¢....and included a small fountain coke

Very serious.

But then, I’m a guy who until very recently, really enjoyed a ‘road trip’ to no particular place for no particular purpose.

I always eat at the Whataburger when I am flying into Dallas - there is one at Love Field and one in Grapevine near the Gaylord...

I like BLAKE’S BURGERS when in New Mexico. Would love to do a side by side taste test.

Five Guys is tops for me among chains, and I’ve just about everything except a Big Kahuna burger.

Road trips for no particular reason sound fun. Always wanted to do such things, but seldom have the time.

I would settle for a Hardee’s, or even a Burger King. I have to drive 10 miles for a McDonalds.

There aren’t many burger joints around here in the sticks.
