Big data finds the Medieval Warm Period – no denial here
The Spectator ^ | 22 August 2017 | Jennifer Marohasy

According to author Leo Tolstoy, born at the very end of the Little Ice Age, in quite a cold country:

The most difficult subjects can be explained to the most slow-witted man if he has not formed any idea of them already; but the simplest thing cannot be made clear to the most intelligent man if he is firmly persuaded that he already knows, without a shadow of a doubt, what is laid before him.

So, our new technical paper in GeoResJ (vol. 14, pages 36-46) will likely be ignored. Because after applying the latest big data technique to six 2,000 year-long proxy-temperature series we cannot confirm that recent warming is anything but natural – what might have occurred anyway, even if there was no industrial revolution.

Over the last few years, I’ve worked with Dr John Abbot using artificial neural networks (ANN) to forecast monthly rainfall. We now have a bunch of papers in international climate science journals showing these forecasts to be more skilful than output from general circulation models.

During the past year, we’ve extended this work to estimating what global temperatures would have been during the twentieth century in the absence of human-emission of carbon dioxide.

We began by deconstructing the six-proxy series from different geographic regions – series already published in the mainstream climate science literature. One of these, the Northern Hemisphere composite series begins in 50 AD, ends in the year 2000, and is derived from studies of pollen, lake sediments, stalagmites and boreholes.

“Global Warming - Climate Change” world biggest hoax and scam.
Just like Obama causing Global Flooding by pissing in the ocean.
That much can humans contribute.
Elaborate scam to screw off taxpayers off their money!

Earth climate and changes are dependent on Sun’s and Sunspots activity supplying 99.99% of energy. Humans can do schit about it.
Volcano eruptions can produce much more distractions to climate than all humans and SUVs farting together.
CO2 is not poison, it is “food” for plants, which in turn produce Oxygen, that we need to breathe.
STOP the scam, jail all the scammers!!!
God bless and protect Mr. Trump!
MAGA!!!!

Yo 95% of scientwists:
Did you notice temperature drops when sun eclipse happened?
Was that because sun’s output was being shielded, or all the SUVs were confiscated?

At this point, it not science; it is a religion.

Peaked about A.D. 1200. Caused by the Mongols invading Central Asia, Eastern Europe, China and the Middle East in their SUVs. The medieval chroniclers didn’t mention the SUVs because there was no word in Latin for them.

Link was weird for me but I got through. An excellent article. The problem of mixing data sources has muddled this thing all along, but as the authors point out, the trends aren't there if you don't do that, and, I'd add, you don't get grants from Greenpeace if the trends aren't there.

Even if this paper is ignored in the popular press (and it will be) the nice thing about science is that it will still be out there on that hopeful day when the stench of hysteria has left the issue. That may take a while.

If you read history you will find that the Sun gets tired about every thousand years or so. The end of the Urbaid culture around 3500 BC.

Then their was the end of the Old Kingdom of Egypt around 2500 years ago.

Then their was the end of the Minoan Warm period around 1500 years ago.

Then the end of the Roman warm period around 350 AD.

Then the Middle ages warm Period 1200 AD.

Seems like a pattern to me.

I sure wish I could use that for a tagline...

Saw a documentary the other day that dovetails nicely with your post.

Researchers were trying to determine why Stradivarius violins sound so great. Why, they asked, can't you use the same materials and methods Stradivarius used, and get an identical product?

The wood was the answer, they claimed. The Spruce wood was much denser and closer-grained than modern trees grown in the same area. Why? Those trees grew up in the Little Ice Age, growing much more slowly, with tight rings and close grain, compared to today's trees.

Now, if trees grow so much slower, how about food crops?

Climate science as a discipline began with Englishman Hubert Lamb studying the mystery of the Medieval Warming Period and the later Little Ice Age.

Lamb began this study maybe in the late ‘60s, early ‘70s. From what I’ve read there is no agreed upon explanation for the cause of the MWP, which covers a period from... 800 to 1300? You can find various end points for it.

Some may recall magazine articles in the early ‘70s predicting a new Ice Age- those predictions came from Hubert Lamb, godfather of Climate Science. His followers created the Anthropogenic Global Warming cult, but he stuck with his prediction of a coming Ice Age, although he conceded that there might be a warming period first. I guess the Settled Science isn’t quite as Settled as the true believers insist.

Once you discover that there is no Settled Science explanation for the Medieval Warming Period you might wonder how the current true believers know that the same mysterious process isn’t at work again.

Such questions reveal that you are a Climate Denier, a rube who dares question the pronouncements of your betters who do Real Science, and never ask such questions.

Friends don’t let friends become Climate Deniers.

If that could fit on a tagline, I would use it too.

There’s another great quotation, something similar, that talks about how facts can’t change opinions because opinions aren’t usually born from facts, something like that.
