A man is charged with attempted murder and a raft of firearms offences after helping fend off home invaders, one of whom he’s now charged with shooting.

Kyle Earl Munroe was arrested on July 12 after RCMP and Halifax Regional Police responded to a report of a home invasion involving firearms at a home in Porters Lake.

Police said that three men entered the residence with guns and a struggle took place with two men inside.

The two in the home seized a firearm from one of the suspects and several shots were fired as the suspects fled. Police later located one of the suspects, who had non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.

Munroe faces charges of attempted murder, intent to discharge a firearm, intent to discharge a firearm when being reckless, careless use of a firearm, improper storage of a firearm, pointing a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm knowing that possession is unauthorized, and possession for the purpose of trafficking.

The criminals brought the guns and the victims managed to get one and shoot the criminal.

Somebody needs to get Trudeau in a live, face to face interview, and ask him if he thinks this decision is logical or fair. I know he’s the President, and doesn’t act alone to change laws, but any president has a lot of influence on public trends. Come on! These homeowners were fantastic, they took charge of the situation and literally fought back!

I left NYS 20 years ago. What amazes me most is that states like New York and Massachusetts, which led the American Revolution, and cities like Boston and NYC, which sent so many to win Irish freedom, are now the bastions of Big Brother Big Government.

If it makes you feel any better, rumor has it NYS is gonna lose another House seat or two after next census. We lost 2 after 2010’s. We’re down a bunch of districts, too over the last 50 years. Won’t help in the Senate, but it will in the House.

The homeowner may very well be guilty under Canadian law.Here in the US "jury nullification" is a well known,but seldom discussed,concept...a concept even addressed by our Founding Fathers.

But the problem is that it's my understanding (and I could be wrong here) that in Canada,unlike in the US,"not guilty" verdicts can be appealed to a higher court by the prosecution....and presumably that verdict can be overturned by that higher court.

If I'm correct on that point this guy could be in serious trouble despite having acted in an entirely reasonable,moral and understandable fashion.
