I’m guessing you haven’t been through Santa Cruz lately.
MSM coverage of the homeless population population always surges when there is a Republican President.
The Springs Rescue mission has created an area of blight and destruction that has ruined southern Colorado Springs.
(Yes, this is going into my NY Times job application.)
[ Marijuana. Plain and simple. I live here. There are literally homeless getting on greyhound busses and saying why not be homeless in colorado? where they can panhandle and buy dope. The change has been dramatic since recreational was legalized. For a period of time the Springs Rescue Mission was advertising their available showers and beds in Portlands backpage.com to increase occupancy and get more funding. It is a plague. ]
Legalization does reduce the cartel problem, but it does increase the “opium den” problem...

“Ohio decriminalized possession of marijuana below 100 grams decades ago & it didn’t cause this problem.”
Did Ohio decriminalize buying and selling of marijuana as well? 100 grams doesn’t support much of a market.

If the vast majority here are conservative why do we have a demonrat supermajority?
The story may be true, Alicia Acuna proved that she can’t be taken at ace value.
It’s always a fun time sliding down the slippery slopes of the former America. I understand cause and effect but politicians are the most asinine people who have the ultimate effect upon society.
No, but they're having a hellacious problem with meth and oxy these days, and I have to wonder how much of that is the result of marijuana's 'status' as a gateway drug...
Actually, our economy is doing pretty well, despite chickenpooper.
I’m sure the MJ laws did not help, but, IMO, the bulk of the increase can be laid at the feet of current Gov’ner and former Denver Mayor, Hickenlooper.
The Hick and his policies have INVITED the homeless to Denver for over a decade. Their numbers have gone WAY up and (shock) they are much more aggressive now. Going downtown isn’t nearly as fun as it used to be.
Been in the Denver-metro area since 1970. This old horse town has boomed its way into being just another big city. Another couple years and as soon as I can, I’m out of here.
Yes, yes they do.
But it can’t survive armies of homeless.
But it can’t survive armies of homeless.
I live in NE Florida near the beach, have a Key West 'tag' on the front of my car, and had a homeless guy tell me that he was 'from there' and was working his way back south.
The homeless problem is just getting worse, and as much as I understand that incarcerating them is costly, I'm not sure that it's any costlier than the social costs of letting them roam the streets day & night, pissing and crapping wherever they want, and generally making a mess of wherever they go.
There are many exceptions, of course, but by and large, that has been my observation.
LEGALIZE DRUGS !!
