Not much information exists on why the Third Congress (under the lead of James Madison and the approval of George Washington) deleted "natural born" from the Naturalization Act of 1790 when it passed the Naturalization Act of 1795.

Because it was redundant. If they viewed it as a source of confusion or error, they would have done more than simply omit the words, they would have rectified the situation. Either you are born a citizen, or you are not. There is no "born a citizen but not a natural-born citizen" third type. And if you want to drop names of Founders to support your claim, remember, there were Founders in Congress in 1790, too, and some guy was President then... Oh, yeah, that would be George Washington!

Additionally, the 1790 act was a naturalization act. How could a naturalization act make anyone an Article II "natural born Citizen?" After all, a "natural born Citizen" was made by nature at the time of birth and could not be so made by any law of man.

Yet you feel you can just make up new definitions and misquote and cherry pick rulings to support it? Where are the footnotes in the Constitution pointing out the citations of Vattel? You are basing your argument on half-definitions and the opinion, clearly identified as such, of the author of a book never cited by the Founders. It was just one of many sources utilized, and never cited. Blackstone is also cited in SCOTUS cases, even more frequently, was and has been a standard legal reference even into modern times, and it says something entirely different. So your non-cited, non-founding document is entirely irrelevant because the Founders said nothing whatsoever about the birthplace, but only about the status at birth, which, like it or not, it leaves to Congress to decide. Just like in the Federalist Papers, where multiple sides of the debate are presented, only one was ultimately included in the Constitution.

You are simply wrong, and stuck in your little memeplex. Good luck with that.

“The “conservatives” over at National Review aren’t taking this much better.”

The people over at the National Review are nuts.

Cobb went hard for GOP Senator Issacson but it is a strongly social conservative district. Trump flamboyance and squishy positioning on social issues hurt him. There were about 16,000 more vote for Issacson then for Trump. Lot of voters in Cobb did not vote on their Pres ballot in Nov 16.

His judge appointments should being them around in 2020. I think tonight is a sign they have warmed to Trump considerably

Couldn’t agree more. They really seem to be the last nevertrump holdouts much like the Japanese soldiers found on Pacific islands 30 years after WWII.

However it is great to read the comments on Jonah Goldberg’s once again negative spin on even this victory. They are (almost) all slamming Goldberg.

“It is wise to field candidates who can win their district, over pure conservatives who can not win in that district.” Where’s the fool-proof “end game” to this line of thinking, when RINO Republicanism is, FINALLY, replaced by Conservative Republicanism, instead? In way too many of the “bluest, politically” areas of the U.S., whenever anybody with an “R” next to their name, actually, wins, they are, almost, always, RINO Republicans, and conservatives and conservatism fail to make any kind of actual, political inroads!

Based on my observation it appears the Rats spent their money pumping out TV and Radio ads while the GOP spent their money on GOTV.

I thought the GOP machine weak because all I was hearing was ossoff ads but maybe they smarter that I give them credit for. They certainly made it appear so tonight.

Right, Trump not popular which is why Dems have lost 5 special elections in a row.

But I guess it is better we have stupid opponents rather then smart ones.

Dem Party is the weakest it has been politically since 1932 and they STILL cannot figure out why that is true.

Some comments at HuffPo:

Nate Silver had last week that he would win. That is the kiss of death for me. I believed in him that we would win Wisc, Mi, and Penn according to him.

Oh hell no! NOT Nate Silver! I never want to hear that name again

I fed up with these polls! Every poll was saying Osoff would win by 2 or more etc..Blah blah..Just like trump win. I give up!

This is so discouraging. I'm so tired of all the bullshit conservatives are raining down on all of us. I sometimes wish I could leave the USA.

This is so depressing. The GOP will take this win as a vote that their way of backwards thinking is acceptable and it's what "the people" want. This country may NEVER recover from the damage they will do.

I am beyond disgusted!!!!! My heart hurts.

You'd think these useful idiots would finally figure out the whole corporate globalist enemedia culture not only lies to us but lies to them as well. You'd think some of them would finally figure out all the lies and deception is so this corrupt culture can control them and goes against the freedoms this country was founded on.

Meanwhile, I love seeing them miserable for the damage they have done to this country, maybe they will eventually get a clue.

PEACHY KEEN VICTORY !

Georgia, Georgia
This whole week through, this whole day through
That old sweet smell of winning
Kept Georgia on my mind

I say, Georgia, Georgia
Tonight's win I find
Just another sweet Dem disaster

I think the reason they didn’t put in a two parent requirement was because at that time the wife took her husband’s citizenship at marriage and was irrelevant in determining citizenship of her children.

I agree. I've been making that point. The mother's citizenship is (was) derived from the husband and so it means nothing, but no child has more than one father (well, used to be so). As "citizen fathers" was the usual phrase, clearly it derives from the plural children, and the two-citizen-parents claim would need some modernization before it could be applied. Based on the laws enacted since women gained full citizen status, it has become a case of either parent rather than the father, and not both parents rather than the father. But to decide it either way requires a law made by Congress, which opponents of either outcome would protest. Only one way to make it absolutely decided, and that is with a constitutional amendment, but there are still people delegitimizing the 14th and the 17th Amendments, among others, so it never would end, IMO.

CNN’s title went all in:

“Georgia’s High-Stakes Special Election”

These idiots went all in hoping a democrap win would begin the dismantling of the Trump Presidency.

Since they hyped it so much and lost only makes them and the democraps mega-losers now, LOL.

This calls for Mega-Schadenfreude, LOL
