This isn’t a problem you try to fix, this is a problem you walk away from. They don’t genuinely help us with anything ever. Our attempts to help them are either unneeded or doomed to failure. This is like that crazy girlfriend where you just have to walk away.
Germany spends 1.2% of GDP on defense, well below their commitment to NATO which has provided Germany’s defense since 1949, the US alone having provided West Germany’s defense from its surrender in 1945.
Germany has the largest economy in Europe. It was rebuilt through US taxpayer money after WWII (Marshall Plan). Without the Marshall Plan, Western Europe would not have recovered economically from WWII for several decades and the EU, so treasured by Germany and France, would likely not exist today.
Frau Merkel has no intention of honoring her country’s defense spending commitment to NATO. She is angry with Trump for demanding Germany pay a pitiful 2% of GDP toward its defense. As a socialist queen she is demanding the US (4% of GDP defense spending) continue to subsidize the defense of Germany and Europe while her nation allocates its spending to its social programs and other national policies such a open borders immigration from the Middle East, the global climate change agenda, and a one sided trade deal between the US and the EU which will give Germany unfettered access to the US market while Germany continues to protect its own industry with tariff and non-tariff regulatory barriers.
Merkel is the spoiled child angry the easy to manipulate, pro Germany, pro socialism Obama is no longer in power. Unfortunately the US media, instead of celebrating our president acting in our national interest, is piling on with the elitist globalist Euro leaders.
