Church bans yoga from premises because it’s ‘non-Christian’
Metro UK ^ | May 10th 2017 | Rob Waugh

Villagers say they’ll boycott St David’s Church, in Blaenporth, Ceredigion, Wales, in protest.

Church bosses say pilates is OK, but not yoga, which ‘might be seen to be in conflict with Christian values and belief’.

Bullshit reasoning, this is when pastors become cooks.

Eugenia Peterson doesn’t really feed well into the “Eastern Mystique”. Keep in mind she wasn’t inventing a new exercise for her health, there was cash money involved in inventing the sun salutation.

Right.

Even the likes of Stephen Hawking admit the universe had a beginning. That it was created, meaning something was created from nothing.

Only 2 possibilities: somebody did the creating, or nobody did the creating.

The second possibility is illogical.

One of the best ways to know whether you’re doing good or evil is check your honesty. Common belief, as fed by pop culture, falsely informs us that deceptiveness is a sign of wisdom. This includes the sort of trickery and manipulation so often used by lawyers and politicians.

“Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools”
Romans 1:22

You are contradicting the premises put forth on this thread by yourself and others.

Check your honesty indeed! LOL

The body is a wonderful creation of the God of the Jews and Christians. I wish that someone would true discernment would, with guidance from The LORD, come up with an exercise program that is tied into worshiping Him.

I think false religions co opt things that were meant to worship God, including music and probably bodily exercise.

I think that movements the body makes, such as lifting up our hands to The LORD, can truly express worship to Almighty God. It is too bad that people settle for the false when the real and true are so wonderful.

I don’t think you’re right about that. Explain what you mean.

With good reason I’ve counseled you to be honest. To say I’ve contradicted myself on this thread is false.

This is exactly what I was talking about—the lesser wisdom seeks to exalt itself through false witness. Leave it, let it go.

I don’t go with the “it’s just stretching exercise!” excuses. Do you think kids trick-or-treating means they're worshiping Satan, too?

At a young age? They're doing what they're taught. But if their parents are Christians they're disobeying God.

If you’re asking me how you can know whether your actions are good or evil, as implied by your post number 187, here’s the answer. Remember this and it will serve you well.

Tell the truth. And if truth from a man threatens you or makes you fearful, don’t allow that fear to coerce name-calling from your lips against him.

I do tell the truth and nothing about your BS makes me fearful.

Then why do you have only name-calling, and nothing else?

Not to mention, fat chicks in yoga pants should be considered a federal crime.

Like this?

“So is eating turmeric.”

Just goes to show how messed up they are - they’ll go for that, but a double Whopper is verboten! Meanwhile, cows are running around pooping anywhere they want because they’re considered divine.

Are you sure you know what turmeric is? There's this wonderful invention called a dictionary, and they even have them online these days!

The prevailing argument here is basically “Yoga is stretching, it’s not religion.” This demonstrates an agenda to hide the religious identity of yoga.

Or, it could be a straightforward statement by people who know all about the origins of yoga and are also devout Christians that the classes they are taking at Gold's Gym that are called "yoga" are not Hindu, not orthodox, not meditative, not religious, and not anything but a low-impact way to stretch and strenghthen the body to an easy-listening soundtrack.

In Naples, where pizza was invented, pizza is made with very fine, non-bromated flour grown in the semi-tropical sunlight and volcanic soil, on which is drizzled some fine virgin olive oil grown and cold-pressed locally, with a few mashed local Roma tomatoes on top and a few small chunks of bufalo (fresh, pure white unsalty mozzarella made from the milk of water buffalo). The tomatoes are from antique seeds and are grown in the lava-rich soil of the region, which borders on a salt sea that also influences the water table and the soil. Then it is baked near the flame in an olive-wood fired brick oven.

In other words, absolutely none of these ingredients or conditions is found in an American pizza, except the mere word, "pizza."

Our flour, grown in the land-locked midwest, is heavier with gluten from hybridization; our tomatoes are mealy, flavorless and full of artificial colorings and shelf-life spray; our commercial pizza-shop oils are a blend of non-virgin heat-extracted olive oil mixed with corn, canola, palm or safflower oil and assorted commercial by-products; our mozzarella is oversalted, aged, dried and based in cow's milk by-products with lots of additives and is slathered on thickly; and our inferior hybrid tomatoes are made into a thick boiled paste of chemicals, artificial colors, artificial flavor enhancers and concentrated fructose, all baked in a metal oven that has been cleaned not by sweeping out the fire-sterilized olive ashes the next morning, but rather by spraying with caustic chemicals. If you think you are eating real pizza as developed in Naples, you are deluding yourself.

Same with "yoga." American "yoga" is to Hindu yoga as American "pizza" is to pizza Napolitana.

No, this is a researcher, chair of the Duke School of Medicine dept of psychiatry and religion.

That guy is a huge charlatan and anti-Christian to begin with. Then, there's the fact that psychiatry is utterly incompatible with Christianity and had its origins in decadent secularized non-Christian intellectual Austria between the World Wars.
