"There is not one place in this country where a gas station that refused to tell you how much the gas cost until after you pumped it and disclosed who you had your car insurance through, then charged a price that was 1,000% or more different between different people based on their insurance company and the make and model of the car would be in business for more than 30 minutes. If any material percentage of gas stations in a town or region (that's known as "market power") got together and decided to do this sort of thing in concert they would all be under arrest and indicted for conspiring to restrain trade, fix prices and force tied sales, all of which are illegal under laws that have stood for more than 100 years."

Actually they made healthcare immune to these laws when they passed legislation on the HMO's. They allowed different pricing so that the HMO's could negotiate and reduce costs. The problem is that the approach the HMO's used initially was 70% and 80% off standard price contracts. So providers simply raised their prices 4X so that they could get the price they needed. That's why there are large differentials in pricing.

But it's a good point. They need to undo that legislation and make it illegal to price the same procedure differently.

Karl Denninger was a huge pro Obama supporter in 2008.

He is Mr Doom and Gloom who yearly threatens to stop posting on his blog but never does.

That is all you really need to know.

useless rant

if the source has no material description of the bill and points of disagreement with a particular part, then the mere rant is a waste of time

heh, heh.

We’re damned lucky to have even gotten a stab at the 2017 budget, dorkie. Trump’s budget begins this year, dorkie.

Follow the bouncing ball into 2018, muffie.

We have only nudged the ball forward with this delayed 2017 bill.

Yep! But Obamacare is really a welfare program so I doubt it will actually ever really completely go away!

The best part of this is medical savings. That encourages people not to run to the doctor every time they get the sniffles. Other things will help like group purchasing of drugs other items can be added in the senate or later.

This is a start and there is a LOT of work to go.

drivel

health care is not measured in gallons and a unit price doesn’t exist

not to mention there are many different unit prices based on location and the time of the year

the author is basically ignorant purveyor of fake news

he is guilty of malpropagandaism

It doesn’t have to be perfect to start the process in motion.

If it did have to be perfect, then this process would obviously never start, because it would never get out of the house.

So quit your bitching and let’s see where it goes from here.

Reuters is calling this bill a win for Trump.

U.S. House passes healthcare bill in big win for Trump

The U.S. House of Representatives approved a bill on Thursday to repeal major parts of Obamacare and replace it with a Republican healthcare plan, handing President Donald Trump his biggest legislative victory but setting up a tough fight in the Senate. With the 217-213 vote, Republicans obtained just enough support to push the legislation through the House, sending it to the Senate for consideration. No Democrats voted for the bill.

The bill’s passage represented a vital step toward fulfilling a top Trump campaign pledge and a seven-year Republican quest to dismantle Democratic former President Barack Obama’s signature healthcare law.

Attn: Trump haters, you can vote for Illiarily again in 2020. She will be running again.

For the rest of us, le Deplorables, please note my tagline.
