Ted Cruz Introduces EL CHAPO Act to Make Mexican Drug Lord Pay for Wall

Sen. Ted Cruz (R., Texas) introduced the Ensuring Lawful Collection of Hidden Assets to Provide Order (EL CHAPO) Act on Tuesday, intending to cover the cost of the southern border wall by seizing more than $14 billion in drug proceeds from infamous Mexican drug lord Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzmán.

According to Cruz's press release, the bill would use all funds forfeited to the federal government during the prosecutions of El Chapo and other Mexican drug lords to fund the construction of the border wall. The funds could additionally be appropriated for other border security needs. The government is currently seeking over $14 billion from El Chapo in drug proceeds and other illicit profits.

"Fourteen billion dollars will go a long way toward building a wall that will keep Americans safe and hinder the illegal flow of drugs, weapons, and individuals across our southern border," Cruz wrote in the release. "Ensuring the safety and security of Texans is one of my top priorities."

Of course Cruz wants the borders protected. Only a mind-numbed Cruz-hater would think otherwise.

Agreed. Some people hate Cruz more than they love truth.

The Gambrinus Company History but the secret to Corona's taste was exposed when Cd Acuna moved "Boystown" out of the city. Now the "Boystown" sewer system runs down a hill to the Rio Grande. Open for all the world to see.

That’s the way for Cruz to rebuild his rep — keep the pressure on Trump with good ideas. And it’s good for the nation.

I can’t imagine Trump being unable to beat the democrats in a government shutdown. And by caving, he weakens base support.

He has a single voice. It’s difficult for all the legislators of the other side to be as united as the Executive. And if they refuse to fund something — out them with a TWEET. Easy.

I agree and have said as much to Team Trump.

Don’t know what the concerns are-—possibly military money? I don’t know.

This is a great political idea. I knew the Trump team would find a politically popular way to pay for the border wall.

According to experts, they aren't wiring money much any more. They are buying prepaid stored value cards cards at banks here in the US...for up to millions of $$$ and taking them back across the border. The Border Patrol can't do a darn thing to stop this, no matter how high the value on the card is. Insane!!!

HERE is an article by a man who has made movies about the border and has been to the border many times to interview the guards and people who live there...Dennis Michael Lynch.

Dana Perrino said all funds given to the Fed Gov’t must be deposited into the General Treasury. What are the chances it would ever find its way to pay for the wall? : (

Nevertheless, if Cruz’s bill fails, Donald should consider funding “DONALD’S VIRTUAL BAKE SALE”, proceeds to fund the wall. Millions of real Americans might just contribute, as a virtual “finger” to the D.C. traitors. : )

Love the premise and idea.

First though, it’s always good to dumb yourself down a few dozen IQ points and try to channel a lib to prepare for the counter talking point.

In this case: Trump wants to use blood money to fulfill a campaign promise to the extreme right wing.

All proceeds from the movie The Three Amigos would go to building the wall.

We would have a plethora of money!
