The March for Science materialized as a global event on six continents and cheered on by scientists on a seventh, Antarctica. On the National mall, the crowd has been large, with thousands of people gathered on the grounds of the Washington Monument and lines for the security checkpoints stretching for more than two blocks.
Rain has varied from light to borderline apocalyptic, but that didnt stop people from dancing when Thomas Dolby performed his 1982 blockbuster hit She Blinded Me With Science. The march proper is scheduled for 2 p.m., and will proceed down Constitution Avenue to the foot of Capitol Hill.
We are at a critical juncture. Science is under attack, said Cara Santa Maria, a science communicator who is one of several emcees of the four-hour rally that kicked off at 10 a.m. The very idea of evidence and logic and reason is being threatened by individuals and interests with the power to do real harm.
She went on: Were gathered here today to fight for science. [The crowd cheered.] Were gathered to fight for education. [Cheer.] To fight for knowledge. [Cheer.] And to fight for Planet Earth. [Cheer.]

A more appropriate name for this liberal fiasco would be “March for Government Grants”. “Planet B”. Cute.
Science is not a consensus, it’s a process.
There is legitimate room for scientific disagreement on any scientific argument. Those disagreements are not “anti” science, they are part of science.
The “March for Science” is not about science, the process.
It is purely about politics and the purely political attempt to silence some scientific opinions over others.
I just walked to my mailbox and came back with a missive from some “Clean Energy” Company, urging me to force my Electric Company to buy energy from THEM to save the earth. After pages of glowing rhetoric was the caveat that “Of course your monthly bill will be HIGHER because it costs money to save the Earth”.
I may not have just fallen off the turnip truck, but I wasn’t born yesterday! LOL!
If they are worried about carbon then why are they opposed to nuclear power?
Because they saw Jane Fonda’s movie “The China Syndrome”, and were convinced that Three Mile Island was an actual meltdown as warned about in the movie. Facts don’t matter. ONly the narrative matters...............
Well, at least we’ve still got Planet X.
Don’t forget Planet Claire.
No one ever dies there.
One belch from Etna or Vesuvius has your tire fire beat! LOL!
Oooh! A line stretching for more than two blocks.
So, basically like your average Star Wars movie opening.
It’s called “Virtue Signaling”
Feeling Good about saving the erf is pointless unless you let everybody know about it.
Failed Chicken Little computer models pumped out for highly politicized grant money from a community that has been caught lying, distorting, and hiding data is not the essence of science. Rather it is a tumor on the side of science that begs to be removed.
Oh yeah, out here you can put a Blue Sky Energy yardsign in your front yard to show your neighbors your moral superiority and that you CARE more than them, LOL.
When the NorKos are threating nuclear proliferation. Got it.
These are the B-list scientists who rely on government grants to do worthless research to fill their quotas.
We could use some science. We have been idolizing speculations that are based on scientistic talk but not science.
oh yes! I have seen similar signs.
I suppose to some people, such moral superiority is well worth the extra monthly charge.
It’s an eagle chopping investment in the Urf!
I bet most of these people were Sociology/Philosophy majors.
Oh Yeah, and let us not forget “songbird frying” as well.
