For a change, the ultra-liberal New York Times sort of got it right.
Pushing back against the reflexive tendency of so many on the Left embrace “gender fluidity” and to even encourage people to claim that they are really of a gender different than that of their birth and biology, the Times published an op-ed by Lisa Selin Davis which reads in part:
“I just wanted to check,” the teacher said. “Your child wants to be called a boy, right? Or is she a boy that wants to be called a girl? Which is it again?”
I cocked my head. I am used to correcting strangers, who mistake my 7-year-old daughter for a boy 100 percent of the time.
In fact, I love correcting them, making them reconsider their perceptions of what a girl looks like. But my daughter had been attending the after-school program where this woman taught for six months.
“She’s a girl,” I said. The woman looked unconvinced. “Really. She’s a girl, and you can refer to her as a girl.”
My daughter wears track pants and T-shirts. She has shaggy short hair (the look she requested from the hairdresser was “Luke Skywalker in Episode IV”). Most, but not all, of her friends are boys. She is sporty and strong, incredibly sweet, and a girl.
And yet she is asked by the pediatrician, by her teachers, by people who have known her for many years, if she feels like, or wants to be called, or wants to be, a boy.
The knee-jerk tendency to assume (and wish?) that people are transgender has become so pervasive that anyone who shows interest in that which is not wholly typical for his or her gender is assumed to be “trans”.

Yes. Many girls and women like to do things that get them called tomboys. I know several, and they are normal women. This is informative, however. It shows the pressure from well-meaning insane people to encourage the child to “identify” as a different sex from what they are.
Many, many years ago, on a business call, I was corrected when I answered “Yes, m’am” to the person at the other end. Even after he said, “I am a ‘sir’ not a ‘ma’m’”, I would have sworn I was hearing a female’s voice. Most confusing.

In a recent talk she gave at “the Battle of Ideas” conference in the UK, Paglia made many liberals uncomfortable when she explained why the current “transgender mania” was very bad for the West, why political correctness was a scourge on society, and why traditional masculinity is a very good thing.

Good to see a respected medical organization refuse to get aboard the leftist PC bandwagon. That hasn't been the case too often in recent decades.

Furthermore, even men, who are not transgens, can access women’s facilities, and do whatever.
A trucker called Mark Levin’s show, and said a man dressed in regular clothes went to enter a ladies’ room, while the trucker’s daughter was in there. The trucker would not let him go in there while his daughter was there. Not every woman has a dad outside to protect her.

I too was a tomboy. I had curly blond hair that I hated. I wore uniforms to school and jeans after. On Sunday I had a choice of two dresses since we we didn’t have much money. My mom was not much on dressing up either. Summer I wore shorts and a t-shirt. My friends were usually boys.

No, gender is biological.
Insisting that gender is not biologically based feeds right into the insanity of allowing men to have access to women's restrooms and locker rooms just because they decide to call themselves women.
In languages that use gender as a grammatical construct, the origin of that usage is, in fact, based on perceptions of reality by the people who were inventing language. They grouped objects into classes, and one of the classes that many of them used was gender--they literally perceived objects as having feminine or masculine qualities, which they then incorporated into their language.
