Youve been snookered, folks. By that poor elderly doctor who was involuntarily dragged from his seat, had his face smashed in, and was beaten unconscious by the evil airport security at the behest of United Airlines.
Because theres no evidence any of that was true. It was in fact a premeditated temper tantrum gone viral, featuring one 69-year-old Vietnamese-American David Dao, a medical doctor whod lost his license, planning a lawsuit from the moment United first politely asked him to give up his seat. He demanded to be dragged and, when police obliged, struck his lip on an armrest. From the many videos taken by numerous passengers, from numerous angles, theres no evidence of a beating, a serious concussion, or bodily damage beyond that lip.
Although some like the Huffington Post want us to ignore his sordid past as inconsequential or blaming the victim, its important that Dao in 1995 was charged with 98 felony drug counts for illegally prescribing and trafficking painkillers, sometimes in exchange for homosexual sex. (Hes married. To a woman.) That normally would get you identified as unreliable. He surrendered his medical license and even now is allowed to practice internal medicine only in an outpatient facility one day a week.

It seemed like there was something wrong with that whole thing including those goofy screams by the passenger before anything had happened - like the passenger was a bit nuts or something.
Well, I for one, got hell for even suggesting what this author wrote.
Pointless speculation since it matters not a bit either way since this stopped being about airline regulations or anything else the instant the first video was uploaded to YouTube.
Me to. I even offered wagers on it.
I don’t give a crap about the individual doctor or his history. What United & other parties involved did is inexcusable. So, pardon me if I fail to properly genuflect before our corporate masters.
Clearly, an opportunity for the jury to award one dollar.
That's putting it mildly - it's hard to think of a mistake United didn't make here.
I am with you.
I really don’t care about the doctor, his past, or his refusal to “voluntarily” give up the seat he paid for. All I know is that I will never fly on United.
Lots more airlines out there for me to do business with.
freepers by and large jumped on this “poor liddle doctor being beaten up the the thugs” mantra....
I don’t know much about heavy.com but they had a 5 Things You Don’t Know About Dr. Wu (...err...Dao) shortly after the fracas. Listed was the pills-for-homosex and his $225,000 winnings as a professional POKER PLAYER!
Bwahahahahaha! Miss Marmelstein is probably owed a few apologies....
I caught a lot of crap for a similar stance.
Still do, in fact. And will going forward.
“I dont give a crap about the individual doctor or his history. What United & other parties involved did is inexcusable.”

Yup, that’s all that matters in the legal process. Wouldn’t matter if he were a three-eyed midget transsexual who had once peddled heroin on the streets.
If corporations do stupid things (ex, United) then people will try to take advantage of their stupidity. Nothing new in this. Nothing really wrong in this. Society has lawyers and judges and juries, and we will see if Dao gets a payout (I’m pretty sure he will).
This could have been avoided. If United had not been utterly stupid, this guy’s nefarious scheme would have had no chance of success — because nothing at all would have happened.
Dao is a jerk? I don’t care.
United is a rotten company that needs to do a lot of things better,
people live on first impressions, without thinking, without trying to understand...
same for this assinine video...and so many freepers just joined the sheeple on this one...
I was told it was a different Vietnamese doctor and that I’d be held accountable by God for calling him a pill pusher - he from a state that has the largest amount of pill addicts in the country!
Just ask yourself how you would feel if that happened to you. Congrats to him for resisting. Airlines treat you as they are doing you a favor by letting you fly on their planes for a large sum of money. At least let the customer get his product, and don’t tell him while he’s got the paid-for shopping bag in his hand that he’s not worthy of it and that his purchase actually belongs to a better class of person and he’s got to give it back.
They’re arriving now. Batten down the hatches.
