United Airlines just can’t seem to fly under the radar.

A Utah man and his fiancée say a U.S. Marshal booted them Saturday from a Houston flight en route to their Costa Rica wedding after they changed seats without permission — the latest in a string of negative headlines for the bedeviled company.

In a crash they have to know who was sitting where so they can be ID’d - even if they’re not scattered all over the place but a still belted in. But in reality it’s pure nonsense on what Untied did. It’s snowballing for that company.

An attempt move towards the front of the aircraft, after being asked not to, is going to make the FAMS suspicious, That is going to result in a divert.

Good free PR to bump people up a class when you got otherwise empty seats.

Who is going to pay the extra for the premium seat if they are big enough to take it on their own and hold it against other contenders.

I’m not a big fan of flying in general, but I’ve been on both the big ones and the two seaters w/”rumble seat” in back. Wouldn’t get on one the size such as in the story you linked!

On a completely different note, the Japanese airlines show (or at least did) a pilot’s-eye view of takeoffs and landings. The landings are particularly fun because they turn the camera on a good ten minutes before touchdown.

That would be very cool

United announces new seating options: First Class, Business Class, Economy Plus, Cardiac Arrest and Fight Club.

LOL!

I’m not sure what you’re asking. The situation in question involves empty seats. The airline was within it’s rights to wake up the sleeping guy and ask the passengers to take their assigned seats. The only real question here is if United wants good or bad PR.

United messed up and now people are going to tend to give jerk passengers the benefit of the doubt.

I HIGHLY doubt that someone was sleeping across their 2 assigned seats before takeoff. Flight attendants will generally tell you to take your assigned seat first, then move (if there is room) after the flight is at altitude. The courteous thing to do is to ask the attendant for permission to switch. The attendant may or may not grant permission. Usually, they will.

I cannot stand obnoxious and belligerent rule breakers when I travel. Follow the rules or get off the plane.

A few years ago I was on a United Express flight from Billings to Salt Lake. The plane was half full so I changed my seat, doors closed and just before leaving the gate. The sour puss nasty flight attendant practically had a cow that I did. Scrooge United.

I can barely imagine how much barf they’d be cleaning off the seats and aisles from airsick passengers due the 360 unobstructed view!

“This could never, would never happen again on a United Airlines flight,” Munoz said. “We are not going to put a law enforcement official to take them off the aircraft. To remove a booked, paid, (seated) passenger — we can’t do that.”

I guess their plan is to simply let the plane and all the passengers sit there on the tarmac until the passenger leaves. Peer pressure.

Watch the fights between passengers then as one gets pissed off and lets the offending passenger know he is in a hurry and the offending passenger has to leave now or else.

It's expensive to hold up flights like that but what choice does UA have now?

Did United donate to the Trump campaign or something?

>>>The flight attendants are typicaly females in that funky pre-post menopausal age and the males mostly see to have their own hormonal problems. Lake of testosterone. I don’t mind them as waiters—oops, sorry, “servers”— but on a flight I’d prefer to turn back the clock and have some flirt-worthy eye candy to serve me my coffee, water and nuts.>>>

LOL....funny. Thanks!

United had an excellent choice. A couple had already offered to deplane, but they wanted a few hundred more than United was offering. First, negotiate with the willing couple. Second, pay the agreed upon compensation. No scene, no bad publicity, just everyone satisfied.

That’s how a good business is run.

“But, yup. Oh, for the days when women were women and so were the stewardesses.”

I recently found myself on an EVA flight to Taipei. Talk about stewardesses. Wow.
