Finally President Trump Calls Out #NeverTrump Members of Congress…
The Conservative Treehouse ^ | Mar 30, 2017 | Sundance

Posted on 03/31/2017 7:13:18 AM PDT by xzins

After removing Katie Walsh from the White House staff, President Trump now moves to confront the #NeverTrump coalition in congress, Hillary’s Favorite Caucus, head on.

More than half of the remaining members of the House Freedom Caucus are still #NeverTrump, entrenched and intransigent Pro-Ted Cruz ideologues. They oppose Trump and have never moved beyond losing in the primary. They are still fighting the 2016 primary race they lost.

It appears President Trump has had enough of their ideological gridlock.

We have an almost complete list of the Freedom Caucus up above. I heard it had 34 members and I think I saw 30 names above.

It should be easy enough to go back to the primary season and see what each of those guys was saying or doing.

I’m fairly certain that Jordan did not support Trump until prior to the convention. He was not a Trump guy.

But to be honest with you, my biggest gripe with the Freedom Caucus is that they have never stepped forward when Boehner or Ryan needed to be challenged for Speaker of the House.

They disappear at those times.

Well, he IS here...

The HFC should have negotiated in good faith, but they moved the goal posts which could be just ineptness on their part, so shame on them. They are not, however, all Never Trumpers.

Here is the rundown from Heavy.com.

Mark Meadows – Mark Meadows of North Carolina is the chair of the House Freedom Caucus. He was elected during the 2012 election, and in 2015, The Washington Post called him the “Donald Trump of the House of Representatives.” He has been negotiating with the White House on the American Health Care Act but says that a deal has not yet been reached.

Justin Amash – Anti-Trump

Brian Babin –supported Ted Cruz during the 2016 election.

Rod Blum – He was an early Trump supporter

Dave Brat – He campaigned for Ted Cruz during the 2016 election but supported Donald Trump once Trump earned the nomination.

Mo Brooks – Mo Brooks of Alabama was elected in 2012. He gave Trump a halfhearted endorsement in October 2016, telling AL.com, “I’m going to vote for all the Republicans on the ballot.”

Ken Buck – He criticized Trump during the presidential campaign after Trump called for a ban on Muslims, saying that Trump is a “fraud’ and that “Trump’s proposal (to ban all Muslims) violates the Constitution, the values of our nation, the Republican Party platform, and my conscience,” according to The Huffington Post.

Warren Davidson – Warren Davidson of Ohio was elected during the 2015 election. On FiveThirtyEight’s tracker of how often politicians agree with Donald Trump, Davidson has agreed with Trump 100 percent of the time since January.

Ron DeSantis – Ron DeSantis of Florida was elected in 2012. In May 2016, DeSantis called on the GOP to unite around Donald Trump, according to Florida Politics.

Scott DesJarlais – Scott DesJarlais of Tennessee was elected in 2010. He endorsed Donald Trump in March 2016.“ While there are certainly things that I admire and respect in each of the remaining candidates, I believe Donald Trump is the candidate best poised to make America great again,” DesJarlais said at the time. “As such, I was proud to cast my vote for Mr. Trump and look forward to supporting the eventual Republican nominee whomever that might be.”

Jeff Duncan – Jeff Duncan one of the first elected officials in the country to endorse Donald Trump for president.

Trent Franks – Trent Franks of Arizona was elected during the 2002 election. Franks was somewhat critical of Donald Trump throughout the early days of the election, mainly because he was not sure Trump could beat Hillary Clinton. However, Franks eventually supported Trump. “Jesus is not on the ballot. We always need to choose between two flawed people,” Franks said in May 2016.

Tom Garrett Jr. – Tom Garrett Jr. was elected to represent Virginia during the 2016 election. After the leaked tape on which Donald Trump brags about sexually assaulting women, Garret condemned the comments but said he would continue to support Trump. “You got to choose between two very flawed candidates for who you think will be best for the future. We certainly think the Republican vision is the stronger vision,” he said, according to The Daily Progress.

Paul Gosar – He endorsed Donald Trump for president in July 2016. “Donald Trump has pledged to be a strong defender of the Second Amendment and to appoint conservatives to the Supreme Court,” he said in a statement at the time. “I wholeheartedly support Donald Trump and his vision to make America great again.”

Morgan Griffith –He supported Donald Trump after Trump became the Republican party’s presumptive nominee.

Andy Harris – Andy Harris of Maryland was elected in 2010. He supported Trump after Trump became the Republican party’s nominee, but he condemned Trump’s comments on the leaked Access Hollywood tape in October.

Jody Hice – Jody Hice was elected to represent Georgia in the 2014 election. He said very little about Donald Trump during the 2016 election. In March, Hice said that the Obamacare repeal vote was delayed because very few people thought Trump would win.

Ted Poe – Ted Poe has represented Texas since 2005. He did not offer a public endorsement of Donald Trump during the 2016 election, but he did say, “Trump, a businessman, wants to run the country like a business in the sense that people get back to work. … Millions of Americans have given up on the American Dream and quit looking for work and Trump can do that.”

Bill Posey– He supported Trump for president but said after the Access Hollywood comments, “The things Trump said 11 years ago are appalling. It’s appropriate that he apologized. I support him because he realizes who his enemies are and can protect the country, help turn this economy around and get America headed back in the right direction.”

Mark Sanford – Mark Sanford of South Carolina has served in the House of Representatives since 1995. He has been a vocal critic of Donald Trump, saying in February 2017 that Trump “has fanned the flames of intolerance,” according to The Washington Post.

David Schweikert – He supported Ted Cruz for president but backed Donald Trump after Trump became the nominee, saying that he is “ethically obligated” to vote for a Republican for president.

Randy Weber – Randy Weber has represented Texas since 2013. He did not publicly support Donald Trump during the election.

Jim Jordan – Jim Jordan of Ohio is the founder of the House Freedom Caucus. In May 2016, he said that he enthusiastically supports Trump.

Raúl Labrador – Raúl Labrador of Idaho assumed office in January 2011. He reluctantly supported Trump for president but condemned much of his rhetoric, such as when Trump said that a judge could not fairly judge a case due to his Mexican heritage. “I will not stand idly by listening to a person attacking the integrity of a judge because of their ethnicity,” Labrador said. “That is absolutely morally abhorrent.”

Alex Mooney – Alex Mooney of West Virginia was elected during the 2014 election. He supported Donald Trump, including after the Access Hollywood tape in October. “I look at the issues. Hillary Clinton has plenty of problems too with her past and her emails,” he said. “Looking at the two candidates—one I think is good for West Virginia and one is not good for West Virginia.”

Gary Palmer – Gary Palmer of Alabama was elected in 2014. He supported Donald Trump during the election, though he said that Trump was a flawed candidate. “Let me be clear, we are looking at two very imperfect candidates, but supporting the Republican nominee – Donald Trump – over the Democratic nominee – Hillary Clinton – is not a difficult choice,” he said.

Steve Pearce – Steve Pearce of New Mexico was elected in 2010. He supported Donald Trump during the election but denounced many of his statements. Recently, he said that Trump’s travel ban was poorly executed.

Scott Perry – Scott Perry has represented Pennsylvania since 2013. He supported Donald Trump during the election but said that Trump’s Access Hollywood tape comments were “reprehensible and indefensible.”

Ted Yoho – Ted Yoho has represented Florida since 2013. He formally endorsed Donald Trump in June 2016.“When an outsider like Mr. Trump wins against all odds and against the political establishment machine, it exemplifies his political savvy and business acumen,” Yoho said. “Americans roots and love to see the underdog given a chance and eventually win.”

“You think members of HFC are vulnerable to primary attack coming from their left?”

They are the left. They fully funded Obamacare and the Syria refugee program during the Obama years. Taking them out will be so easy. Much easier than the Cruz takedown last year.

I think the HFC should entice at least 16 "Mark Levin approved conservatives" to run as primary opponents to DJT in 2020. This past primary was the most enjoyable political theater I've ever seen :)

[I vociferously applaud the few patriots left in Congress.]

Did you applaud them when their votes were the ones which confirmed Ryan’s speakership?? If they voted “with principle”, we could have had a more conservative-minded SOTH.

“I vociferously applaud the few patriots left in Congress.”

Yeah they have done a bang up job repealing/replacing nothing so far.

Well, it is a real shame, that the #NeverTrumpers Obamacare Repeal legislation cannot get a vote... (heavy sarcasm) My personal opinion is Lying Ryan and these play acting conservatives are double timing the ‘White House’. There are just some people born without the ability to do anything more than muddy the waters on principle.

If the Trump sycophants want wage a non-stop, eternal war with conservatives, then so be it. Let’s fight.

Good luck getting anything done without us.

My guess is it’s chamber of commerce types.

The chamber truly wants that cheap labor.

I’m convinced that’s why most democrats want black market cheap labor to continue: it helps their stocks, cleans their houses, mows their lawns, etc.

They do NOT care about those on the lower end of the wage scale. They want to exploit them.

Did you know that half of the freedom caucus have been #nevertrumpers? I would not have guessed that.

I only know of one. Name others and document it with proof.

Please don't tell me that this is what FreeRepublic has turned into.

This was the last place on the internet where "conservatism" was considered a real thing. It was still held up as a thing to be fought for.

Is Freerepublic now a place where conservatism is considered a fairy tale?

I've seen a lot of vitriol directed at conservatives here at FR. But this shocked me yesterday....

To: Responsibility2nd

Trump is not a conservative.

This is all anyone needs to know in understanding why Trump continually targets conservatives as the enemy.

Good. They should be targeted.

They've proven themselves to be the enemies of America and Western Civilization itself. But so are the "moderates" but that's another discussion.

Conservatives cave and placate the Left at every opportunity.

They betray America every single time.

They stab you in the back every single time.

They haven't won a major fight with the Left in over 50 years.

Conservatives have been unmasked for the traitors and scoundrels that they are.

Just look to the recent legislation in North Carolina to make nice with the transvestites for the sake of a basketball game.

You speak for a lot of people. Not me, of course but lots of Freepers also see conservatives as the enemy.

What a strange place this is.

6 months ago if you told people that conservatives are bad; the GOP-e is good. And that we should be happy with ObamaCare lite - You’d have been zotted in a heartbeat.

Now? Now thinking like yours is prevalent.

I say again - What a strange place this is.

No it is not. Some supported other people on the primary but almost all endorsed trump. Some early on. Some later.

So far I only know of Amash being NeverTrump. Perhaps Sundance is expanding into FakeNews.

I don’t understand you sentiment. I hear your words, but do not understand WHY you are sticking it to Paul Ryan? He worked hard to get people to change their minds on the new healthcare plan, so did Trump and Pence and all of his supporters. There were immovable people in the way, NONE of the Trump people were completely successful, yet you zoom in on Ryan and I am at a loss to understand why.

Please, educate me as to why you single out Paul Ryan, and be specific with links if possible. I really want to understand.

Sundance says it in the article.

We have most of the names up above. The list has about 30 names and I thought I heard there are 34 members or so.

Should to be easy enough to discover who they were supporting in April of 2016.

I can’t do it right now. Got other work to do, but if you check it person by person ping me to it.

Smerconish said the HFC were elected by an average of over 20% and therefore are very safe.

Said they reside in heavily gerrymandered districts.

Disagree with President Trump. I believe he’s being led down the wrong path deliberately by establishment subversives. Someone in the WH advising him, and Ryan in the House. I don’t believe the Freedom Caucus has nefarious goals as I believe does Ryan, and perhaps his long time friend, and associate Priebus, and the Never Trump establishment they represent.
