This is developing! It is more than a rumor as the source is known to me and is credible.
I admit I haven't yet validated everything. But I am asking Freepers to help catch any news, social media, credible scuttlebutt on the firing of Comey.

And, not just being contrarian, I still think it’s possible that Comey is playing a deeper game than anyone is aware of, for example, obfuscating in public to protect ongoing investigations in private. Just my own personal wild theory but you have to admit, if he was trying to confuse, befuddle, mislead, and head-fake everyone he couldn’t be doing a much better job of it ;-)
Informing the public is the lowest of priorities compared with actual investigative work that is hopefully being done out of the public eye.
And the fact that it stays out of the public eye (i.e. NO LEAKS) is a very good thing.

Exactly, I love how this President goes around them by taking his case directly to the American people. If he were to fire Comey, I hope he goes around them again, to tell the truth, and to set the narrative. You know those fake outlets would try to paint Comey as a victim if they could set the narrative.

It is easy to find a replacement for Comey. There are both centrist Rs and libertarian Rs and Nativist Rs and all kinds of Rs qualified to fill FBI director.
Of Course Comey has many years left on a fixed 10 year term. He cannot be fired by Trump. It is unlikely Congress has the spine to even consider impeachment.
It is not easy to find a replacement for Paul Ryan. I suggest Newt Gingrich is probably the closest to a good replacement. After all, the Speaker need not be a Congressman.
