Repeal Obamacare and replace with freedom. Change House and Senate rules to do so if necessary!

Posted on 03/27/2017 12:52:30 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

"Prior to this year, the House voted to repeal Obamacare more than 50 times ---when it was clear that President Obama would veto the bill. The problem we are facing is that some of the people who voted for repeal 50 times will not vote for repeal when it counts, when it is "our moment in time," with Republicans in control of Congress and the presidency." --Rep Dave Brat

"This has been my complaint since before Obamacare became law. Nothing I’ve seen addresses the problem of increased costs of medical care. All these bills just shift the rising costs from the users to the taxpayers. The system can’t work if healthcare costs continue to rise at a rate that’s faster than household income." --mbynack

Costs go through the roof when the government unconstitutionally mandates that everyone MUST be covered and must be covered for all kinds of crap they don’t need or want and regardless of preexisting conditions or whether they can pay for it or even if they are not citizens. Tyranny is expensive.

To our Republican Representatives:

Repeal 100% of Obamacare and replace with free enterprise/free market solutions per the U.S. Constitution!

Nothing else is acceptable or workable. Socialism, communism, fascism, central planning, etc, is totalitarianism and never works!! Our federal government and our constitutional republic was not designed to be and was never intended to be a welfare state! Our Constitution was designed to prevent all this TYRANNICAL crap!

We rebelled against a tyrannical king for a lot less than this!

No excuses. If the house or senate rules are obstacles to repeal with a simple majority vote or within reconciliation rules (or whatever), then change the damned rules already so you can repeal this unconstitutional piece of socialist crap with the simple majorities you hold in both chambers! The constitution gives YOU the majority, the power to do that.

The congress and the chief executive have just as much power, authority and responsibility as the SCOTUS (and perhaps even more so) to ensure that the Constitution is upheld! Do whatever it takes to fulfill your constitutional DUTY!

We voted in Republican majorities and a Republican president specifically so you can do this REPEAL deal, ON DAY ONE!

Just shut up the ridiculous whining, hand wringing and squabbling and quit trying to pass additional or watered down but still tyrannical unconstitutional bills and just get the clean repeal DONE as you PLEDGED to your constituents and is your sworn constitutional DUTY!!

For crying out loud are you the elected representatives of the free citizens of a free market constitutional republic or are WE the captive subjects of a tyrannical USSR style communist government with a centrally planned economy?

To all:

Does the constitution even matter to you people anymore?

Does the Republic matter?

Does Liberty matter?

Does a free market economy matter?

Our constitutionally limited government was not intended to take care of us from cradle to grave.

It’s NOT their job!!

Conservatives and the Freedom Caucus are not our enemies. The big government globalist establishment is!

And if we go along with it trying for a free lunch, we are. The government does not owe us health care or health care insurance. It’s NOT a God-given right! Nor is it a constitutional power for the federal government. It's reserved to the states and the people!

Wake the hell up, people, it’s a lot later than you think.

Well, someone must stand and say no. Sorry, Mr. President, as much as we love you, we the people must insist you abide by our constitution. We are a constitutional republic, a nation of laws, not a dictatorship, not a third-world banana state, nor a socialist welfare state and you must faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and must to the best of your ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States as you swore before God and country on January 20, 2017.

Doesn’t anyone know the filibuster saved us from amnesty in 2007?

President Trump promised during the campaign to continue coverage for preexisting conditions and covering "children" until age 26.

When some of us pointed that out, we were flamed as "NeverTrumpers" and worse and threatened with the traditional zot.

Well, I voted for Trump. but with no illusions whatever about his positions.

So I'm not in any way surprised about the Obamacare Lite saga.

I don’t think so. I may be misremembering.

We’ll see if it does in 2017 or 2018, because I feel that is possibly coming too (at least on the Dreamers).

Trump wants wins. He wants Rose Garden ceremonies where he is signing beautiful bills.

If he doesn’t get those from the Republicans, he will seek them from Schumer and Pelosi.

I feel like everything is in play now - public option, amnesty, marriage between dogs and cats.....

Sorry, it’s a campaign promise he can’t keep. The only promise he MUST keep is the one he swore to on Jan 20 of this year. He must uphold the Constitution.

Agree 100%.

If the leadership won’t change the rules, or if they say, “It’s too hard!”, replace the leadership. Period.

Ryan should fire himself rtf now. He had to be “talked into” the position, and made a list of demands before he would accept. Including not having to work weekends.

For real. Read that again. Ryan negotiated his position, demanded and received the condition of not having to work weekends.

Compare that to Trump’s work ethic.

Ryan needs to resign quietly and let someone with testicular fortitude do it. Someone who can keep up with Trump.

Well said Jim! Repeal Obamacare. Health Savings Accounts. Competitive Health Insurance packages across state lines. For now, keep Medicaid, Medical and Medicare. The 10% that can't buy insurance on not on Medicaid or Medicare can go to local public clinics, and as a last resort, go to ER. Ane yes, change to rules to Repeal Obamacare if they have to. It has to go.

Keep the Federal Government out of health care!

FAKE 60%

ShowMe!

The words “60%”, exist where in the Constitution??

The words “60 votes”, exist where in the Constitution??

The words “nuclear option”, exist where in the Constitution??

Actually, even a “PLURALITY” of votes is legal to pass a bill in Congress.

Plurality, 51%, 60%, 66% 2/3 are all options.

When was the Constitution replaced by committee rules?? Did John Handcock sign those?

Congressional Republicans are conning you, to falsely claim they are helpless. They want your money.
Tell your Congressman, 60% is FAKE, it is arbitrary.

The Democrats like control, so they limit themselves to 60%. Fine.

The Republicans instead are Constitutional, 51% or a plurality is Ok.

Well said!

I do think the powers that be are making this look harder than it really is to repeal. I read a refresher article on how 0bamacare came to be.

It was passed in 2 parts. Part of the bill was passed when the Senate had 60 votes making that part harder to repeal. Since the second part, which was the meat and potatoes (taxes and such) of the bill, the Senate no longer had the 60 votes making it hard to repeal. The second part was passed using some legal shenanigans of budget reconciliation and was passed with simple majority of 56 votes in the Senate.

Repeal the meat and potatoes part of the bill, that was passed with simple majorities, by repealing it with simple majorities in each house and it cripples or pretty much repeals the whole thing as 0bamacare would no longer work without the second part of the bill. Add a deadline when 0bamacare will expire while they work on a more free-market-friendly solution.

Voluntary insurance pools for all sorts of risks, including health care have existed for centuries albeit called by different names.

It is medicine dominated by business interests, shareholders, greed driven and empowered by globalist corporatism elites in government that are the evil players who need to be outed and ousted.

There just has to be something better than Ryan and McConnell’s politics as usual.

The inside Washington groups that claim to be conservative like the “Freedom Caucus” were always Ryan and or Boehner supporters with few exceptions when the votes for Speaker of the House came.

Club for Growth and Heritage ultimately support the Republican Party, too.

We need something better than something with Ezekiel Emanuel’s fingerprints on it as well.

Doesn’t matter. His campaign promise is null and void, superseded by his sworn oath to faithfully execute the office of the presidency and preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.

The sworn Oath before God and country takes moral and legal precedence over any conflicts of prior promise.

Patent expiration decreases medical costs and increases innovation. At the same time, we need a system that rewards those who awards those who take on the initial cost burdens associated with research and development.

This system isn’t socialism.

So, Trump was this naïve to work with Ryan on this horrible bill? Sorry, but Trump holds some responsibility here

Agree. But I'm giving Trump some early slack as he's not of government. All I'm saying is Ryan and McConnell should have had 15-20 bills ready to go with all the votes whipped, and ready for passage and Trump's signing. This includes Obamacare repeal, taxes, energy, etc.

Instead, it appears our GOP leaders were sitting on their asses.
