'A sea of despair': White Americans without college degrees are dying younger
The Los Angeles Times ^ | 3/24/17 | Matt Pearce

In 2015, a pair of economists received widespread attention for their study showing that since the late 1990s the death rate has been rising for middle-aged white Americans.

Now a new analysis by the same Princeton University team has identified which part of that population was driving that trend: people without college degrees.

White men and women in every age group between 25 and 64 who did not have college degrees saw their mortality rates increase between 1998 and 2015. Those with degrees saw their mortality rates decrease.

“There are two Americas,” said Anne Case, who conducted the research with her husband, Angus Deaton, a Nobel laureate. “There’s an America for people who have gotten a college degree, and an America for people who have not gotten a college degree. And if you had a checklist of well-being, the people without college degrees are getting worse and worse, and people with college degrees are doing very well.”

The analysis, published Thursday in the Brookings Papers on Economic Activity, found that the problem appears to be distinctly American. In Europe, mortality rates for people with low levels of education are falling more rapidly than for those with more education.

In every age group the researchers examined, white Americans with a high school education or less now fare worse than blacks as a whole — a reversal of the situation in 1999.

Blacks and Latinos have seen steady improvement in mortality rates as whites without college degrees have been going in the other direction as a result of drug overdoses, alcoholism and suicide and a recent halt in a decline in deaths due to heart disease. The nation’s opioid abuse epidemic played a major role.

“Householder” means the person designated as head of household, an individual.
From the Census Bureau: “Householder: a person in whose name the housing unit is rented or owned. This person must be at least 15 years old.”

Mexicans hire Mexicans

Something that is a little understood fact.

To them, it's completely OK to discriminate in favor of their countrymen.

We should hit back hard with massive class action suits against any employers who go along with this (uh, McDonalds for example) in addition to deportation and prosecution for aiding and abetting.

Funny how articles like this never saw the light of day during Bath House’s terms.

Discrimination against them in employment, welfare programs, education, that increase alienation, poverty, disengagement, assistance from programs that are helping ethnic minorities.
White is the new black, especially if you’re poor.

The data is FROM Bath House’s terms.
2016 was the first time U.S. life expectancy decreased in many decades.

I would think that you would drop dead upon seeing how much you owe for your college education!

That depends on where you go to school. For example Harvard University costs $61,000 a year in tuition, room and board and fees. However if you come from a family with income of $65,000 or less, Harvard covers all costs via scholarships and a part time job. If your family earns between $65,000 and $150,000 Harvard expects the family to contribute 10% of their gross income and Harvard picks up the rest. Harvard has an endowment of $38 billion.

At Stanford University lower income students don’t have to pay anything for tuition, which normally runs nearly $46,000 a year.
Students whose families make less than $125,000 a year and have assets worth $300,000 or less, including home equity but excluding anything that they have saved in retirement accounts, don’t have to pay tuition. Students whose families make less than $65,000 also don’t have to pay for room and board, which can run about another $14,100. Scholarships or grants cover the costs instead. Stanford has a $21 billion endowment. The thresholds were previously $100,000 for free tuition and $60,000 for free room and board.
Like at Harvard students have to contribute at least $5,000 a year from part-time work during the school year, working during the summer, and/or money from savings.

The demographic dying faster than any other demographic is babies, killed by leftist neo-Nazi democrats and pig judges.

Especially if the whites are male; white women are laughing all the way to the bank (and blacks want them stricken from the list of “preferred minorities”).

Dr. Tennant. Basically summarized almost everything we have been saying regarding the CDC guidelines. It is very refreshing to read a more balanced view...
https://www.practicalpainmanagement.com/treatments/pharmacological/opioids/living-cdc-opioid-guidelines

Opioid Overdose Statistics: As Clear as Mud
https://www.painnewsnetwork.org/stories/2016/12/17/opioid-overdose-statistics-as-clear-as-mud?rq=pain%20statistics

I’m FORCED to use the Naval Pharmacy for our daily meds, DOD MANDATE, they have one of those propaganda signs up. There is NO mention we are in 2 wars with injured personnel or training injuries, many with life long pain. All pain med scripts over 2 weeks must state for CHRONIC PAIN, and have to be hand carried in; and DUMBOCARE has MANDATED a 75% reduction in the use of opioids. The list includes Peripheral Neuropathy meds, but not anxiety drugs like Xanax which is as addictive as any Oxycontin. No one mentions most of the OD’s are from illegal street drugs laced with stolen or fake Fenyatal. They just tar and feather the whole lot of pain patients. No mention of the number of Suicides as a result of being forced off the pain meds they need.

There are 1.33 Million Chronic Pain Patients, who have no cures for their illness, and none even in trial phases.
ICC Bladder, Ehlers-Danlos Syndromes http://ehlers-danlos.com/what-is-eds/ are just 2 Chronic Pain conditions with no cures.

A non college educated person can make $40K or more if they have skills. Does any one think their auto mechanic went to more than a trade school? Or their Plumber? Or Beautician? I know my sis makes over that as a licensed for bonding Beautician for one of those hair clubs. All she has is her GED and her Beautician schooling, and bonding license and is good at what she does. BTW she can afford to drive a used Jag on what she makes.

Does “household income” mean both married people working? If so then these are horrifying statistics.

Men die when they don’t feel their lives have purpose. When they can’t get a job because the jobs have been taken by illegals (at the low end) or H1Bs (at the high end).

Thanks for the clarification on the term “householder” (head of household). I figured as much, seeing as the average household income is about $56,000. (So two high-school dropouts getting married.) I’m guessing that most workers in the U.S. have a HS diploma but no college?

I tried a search but no luck. Interesting though what does get pushed by google. Lots of stuff with regard to “employment education” with links to immigration and health care coverage.

That would be an interesting study to see what the issue of the year is - search on the same three keywords over the years.

1939: Hitler increases job rates
1945: Job boom in post-war America
1968: Dropping Acid in the workplace
1979: Oil embargo impacts throughout the US
1999: Education in the new millenium
2004: Global Warming effects Job Climate
2010: Health Care boom next Job opportunity
2017: Make America Great Again, Stocks Soar.

7 years since obamacare was created!!!?? FUBO

It depends on the household. One person can be a household and so can five people. The term Householder however means whoever’s name is first on the mortgage or the lease.
From Wikipedia: “Household income is measured in various ways. One key measure is the real median level, meaning half of households have income above that level and half below, adjusted for inflation. According to the Federal Reserve, this measure was $56,516 in 2015, up $2,798 or 5.2% from the 2014 level of $53,718. This was the largest one-year percentage increase on record. However, it remained 2.5% below the 1999 peak of $57,909. The Census Bureau estimated real median household income at $55,775 in 2015, up $2,062 or 3.8% from the 2014 level of $53,713. Household income varies geographically and by race. The overall median has continued to rise steadily, if slowly, to $57,616 in September 2016 according to one unofficial source that reports monthly versus annually.”
