After years of allowing customers to rank movies on a scale of 1-to-5 stars, the streaming service announced plans to replace that system with a binary thumbs up vs. thumbs down rating. Soon one-star ratings will cease to be a thing on Netflix or five-star ratings, for that matter.
The new Siskel & Ebert-ian system was revealed by Netflix executive Tod Yellin at a press briefing at the companys headquarters in Los Gatos, California on Thursday, Variety reported and EW confirmed.

Yahoo got rid of the thumbs up and down this last year as people were voting down anything obama and clinton.
Now it is just a heart symbol if you like and nothing you can choose if you do not like.
why is this a big deal? now Amy Schumer will simply get a load of thumbs down ratings...
We gave Netflix the Boot over a year ago
Worst part is they are wasting our money pumping out horrible movies and TV shows.
There’s a movie called The Imitation Game about code breaking in WWII. I won’t watch it though because since the main character is a homosexual, if I do watch it, Netflix will keep shoving gay movies at me.
> Netflix suggested that since I watched Arrested Development I would enjoy Downfall (Hitler’s last days).
Downfall is a really good film.
Being on metered broadband (cell modem), I don't stream Netflix programming. But I've used, and enjoyed, their DVD mail service for years.
I cancelled my netflix service because their offerings were so awful, plus I got tired of seeing faggot and raghead movies and tv shows advertised.
“Crap! Well I cant boycott them....I gotta finish binge-watching Z-Nation and The Walking Dead!”
The Walking Dead is starting to get a little tiresome but Z Nation is AWESOME!
Since I switched to Netflix streaming (it was a major inconvenience to have to find a mailbox with a parking space near it, park, then jam the disk down the slot), I have not seen ANY movies offered less than 10 years old, unless it was the Netflix garbage. I do not watch TV; haven’t watched TV programs for 35 years or so. I got Netflix to watch MOVIES. Every time I type in the title of a movie I want to see, it is not offered on Netflix streaming. I spend as much time looking for movies I didn’t already see, which are not dirty, and which are not total stupid garbage as I would viewing the movie.
Any ideas? It’s very frustrating.
BTW, there is a WONDERFUL reality TV show on Youtube about an English veterinarian who creates custom orthopedic tools, anatomical parts, etc. and pulls off miracles in pet orthopedics. They don’t hide anything, whether it’s the silly secretaries singing at each other or jiving with each other, owners totally losing it at bad news, this veterinarian (has a staff of 50, has own MRI, CAT scan, X ray machines, state of art boarding facilities for long term patients) collapsing after a 6 hour operation, etc. It’s called The Supervet and it is fascinating. OK, every episode I have tears running down my face, but the science is soooo cool.
They’ve BEEN doing the thumbs up/down for at least the last year! When you view info about the movie, you see a star rating.
As soon as they started airing the gay and liberal leftist themed shows we cut the cord. Haven't looked back.
I like Daredevil myself. So far it’s been quite good.
Best is before they had icons for each family member. I’d come onto Netflix and they would see my one teen son watching slasher horror flicks and my babies watching Sesame Street, and out of that make me some wild suggestions. That was a hoot.
obviously it's not to make money, because they already have subscribers' money,
I could never get into The Walking Dead but I really like Z-Nation. It has humor and a lot of twist and turns.
I’ve been watching the Blacklist. It’s fun watching Red being a complete badass.
Shadow government mole: “You cannot lay a finger on
(Red shoots her in the side)
“You SHOT me!” Love that stuff.
It certainly does seem that way. I can only think of about two comedians I’ll watch on it, frankly. The rest are just liberal trash full of more hate that the hate they claim from us.
Netflix also has also taken to putting on a whole regime of Spanish, Korean, Chinese films and mislabeling them that the audio is English. They openly make programs with LGTBQ (Sense8) characters over-represented, and they foist that crap in your face even though you’ve told them in your profile that you don’t ever want to see that stuff. The profiles are meaningless buttons on a screen. In short, Netflix has made the very conscious decision to go Globalist and LGBTQ at the same time.
I like The Blacklist too. Reddington is a great character and masterfully acted!
