Yes, it was “rape rape”. What Whoopi apparently meant, is that he and his attorneys had negotiated a plea bargain to some lesser charges.
but, since he fled to avoid our justice, we’ll never know what the outcome would have been. The plea bargain never happened because he ran away from the US.

By the way, the victim was a 13 year old girl, not a “woman”.
She has no problem with it 30 years later? So what? It’s not up to her, Polanski has already been tried and convicted. The coward and pervert fled the country before sentencing.
Judge should agree. Give him 25 years, suspended pending compliance with community control order which says no drugs or alcohol, register as a tier one sex offender, not leave the jurisdiction of the court and wear an ankle monitor. Two months later, pick him up for parole violation and lock him up for the 25.
She’s been asking to have this dismissed. They settled out of court a long time ago.
