For some people, "early bird gets the worm" is a life motto. To them, "fashionably" late is not a thing.
These people are "on-timers," and they have unique habits that make them who they are.
Seeing as showing up late is disrespectful, and can negatively affect your career as well as your relationships, it may be time to take a page out of their book.
Here are 10 habits that make punctual people tick.

>>Yes, there is a big difference between being dependable (including being on time) and obsessing about things that dependable people do. Ive worked with both kinds.
True. Usually the habitually late person is something “obsess” over like you would “obsess” over a person who keeps poking you in the chest.
Real easy: aim to be early and bring a book/snack/whatever.
I’ve got a vendor that insists on showing up at least 30 min early for all meetings. After accommodating him a couple of times, now I make him wait in the lobby

I am ALWAYS early, upon arrival I do announce myself with the caveat ‘if you are ready early, fine I will be right outside, call me.
If offered a cup of coffee or soda or water, I will decline it.
If the pickup is 1400 and I am there at 1330 or so, at 1415 the clock starts ticking in regards to waiting time.
I can be quite anal if the situation calls for it...
Well some call it anal, I call it fastidious.
Understand. That one item that said “waking up before your alarm goes off” is not something that is controllable IMO.
Your Circadian clock is either wired that way, or it is not.
My physiology gets me up between 3:30 and 4:00 AM and I haven’t used an alarm clock in decades. I could not change that one bit now I think.
There is always the person worth waiting for.
Thanks!
If I get one “point” for each thing on the list I get a grand total of. . .

Sometimes I don’t wake up until the alarm goes off.
Sometimes I don’t have an adequate time buffer. I like to be efficient. This makes me a little late sometimes.
Just retire and forget those damn clocks.. my biggest problem is remembering what day it is now.
I have an alarm clock. I can't remember the last time I set the alarm. I just wake up when I tell myself I'm going to. And yes, I work full-time, and no, I'm not ever late, to work or to anything else.
“They have a Germanic surname?”
HA! Guilty.
Its always better to be 10mins early, than 3mins late. Always.
I’ve always done that. Thanks, Dad.
There is something to be said for switching styles as needed for each situation. I try to be patient with the late. Not just that I am a latenik too but they might have something valuable to share because they did not rush.
Being very conscientious about punctuality is important in business. Having respect for the time of family, friends and acquaintances in your personal life is important too, but individuals operate on different time expectations so I try to conform to them if I can. Showing up on time is a major disruption to some people, so if I know they’re perpetually late I’ll try to adjust for that, for instance giving them an earlier time so they’ll be closer to on time, or adding time for my arrival so they’ll be more likely to be ready. The one thing that annoys practically everybody would be showing up too early. I never do that, I’ll sit in my car or otherwise kill time to avoid it. I have older relatives who will show up very early, sometimes an hour before. I love them but it’s really a worse habit than being a little late.
I’m the only Hispanic that I know of that is always on time.
I work like a German.
My family may say 1:30pm but they mean 2:15pm.
I don’t mind if someone is late once in a while. Life happens. My argument is with the chronically late.
Yep, my wife always refers to “Cuban Time”.
More like the early bird gets the late worm. Should’ve been in his hole already.. LOL
I have my alarm clock set for exactly 4:42am on workdays as gets me out the door at exactly 6:00am after taking a shower, breakfast and walking the dog. I have a 30 minute buffer built into my commute in case of unexpected traffic or train delays. I also set my clothes out the night before.
What I don't do is set my clock a few minutes ahead as some here suggest doing. That's not a habit that a true "on-timer" needs to have. I'm a stickler for knowing the exact time always.
My downtime (when arriving early for something) is always productive. For example, I have my Kindle app on my phone so I always have my reading library with me. In fact I'm typing this out while waiting for my next business meeting to start. I never allow myself to be bored.
Remember: the early bird gets the worm ...
...but the second mouse gets the cheese.
When you tell someone you will be there at certain time it is a promise that cannot be broken. A test of honor.
It’s still a question of relationship. Doctors are among the chronically late. Would I rather be sick or get the Rx and hear the doctor out? A late doctor is often not a sloppy one but a conscientious one. Sometimes punctuality matters more as in emergency but typically those doctors are ready and waiting themselves.
