For what it’s worth, Mark Simone just said it was a long illness.

RIP. He had a tactic of asking a question of conservatives, but then answering it in the way he thought conservatives would answer it, and then criticizing the answer, before letting the conservative answer it.

Jocelyn Elise Crowley is a Professor of Public Policy, a member of the Graduate Faculty in the Department of Political Science, an Affiliated Faculty Member of the Department of Women’s and Gender Studies, and a Senior Faculty Fellow at the John J. Heldrich Center for Workforce Development at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey.

She is currently studying the impact of “gray divorce”—divorce at or after the age of 50—on the lives of men and women across the United States. Her book, Gray Divorce: What We Lose and Gain from Mid-Life Splits, will be published by the University of California Press in 2018.

Prior to this, the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation funded many of her research projects on mothers’ organizations in the United States, parenting challenges and public policy, and workplace flexibility. Her book, Mothers Unite! Organizing for Workplace Flexibility and the Transformation of Family Life, was published by Cornell University Press in 2013.

She has also written extensively on the topic of family law and public policy, including her books The Politics of Child Support in America (2003; Cambridge University Press) and Defiant Dads: Fathers’ Rights Activists in America (2008; Cornell University Press).

In addition to contributing to edited volumes on international fathers’ rights movements and motherhood politics, she has published numerous articles in the American Journal of Political Science, Social Science Quarterly, Review of Religious Research, Health Education and Behavior, Legislative Studies Quarterly, Journal of Public Administration Research and Theory, Publius: The Journal of Federalism, Marriage and Family Review, Justice System Journal, Perspectives on Politics, Social Service Review, Journal of Contemporary Ethnography, Sociological Inquiry, Women’s Studies Quarterly, Social Forces, Sociological Spectrum, Family Relations, Eastern Economic Journal, The Sociological Quarterly, Journal of Family Issues, and Women’s Studies International Forum. During the 2005-2006 academic year, she was chosen to be a Visiting Scholar at the Russell Sage Foundation in New York City. She spent the 2006-2007 academic year at the Department of Politics, New York University and the Social Indicators Survey Center, Columbia University School of Social Work.

I must admit, she is not exactly what I was envisioning as what his wife would look like or do for that matter.

Even though I disagreed with his views the overwhelming majority of the time, may he rest in peace, and wish her the best when coping with the loss of her mate.

"He was a liberal that you could respect."

Yup, and I did. The reason why is he was always respectful when debating Hannity or others. Never saw an ounce of hatred like so many other libs and his smile and raised eyebrows gave him a certain charm. Can't believe I'm defending someone who was 180 from my beliefs, but then that is what compassionate conservatives do.

Yeah, seemed affable. Definitely not nasty, just extremely ill informed. RIP.

Meanwhile, there was a B...h on Carlson the other night whom I would cheer at its demise. Complete waste of skin and air.
Nasty vicious. The type I could see catching conservatives’ babies on bayonets and smirking about it.

“I have no respect for an intentional lying individual like Colmes whose efforts to use the news station’s podium for the chance to further a cause of criminals like B Clinton and others attached to the legitimate terrorist group called the democrats. He is one of a number of individuals that are a blight to our society. Glad he’s gone and can’t do any more harm.”

You really need to get a grip...and have a little respect for the dead. He was a good man that didn’t agree with you....that’s it!!

When I hear the Left and the MSM talk about crazy and dangerous people on the right, I usually pass it off as BS hack talk...but then someone like you comes along and proves them right!!

He drove us nuts but we’re sorry to see him go, and agree with many of the positive comments here.

I may be in the minority, but I thought Hannity’s show went downhill after they booted Colmes. RIP

Very sorry that I won’t see or hear Allen again. One of the very few liberals that was kind and thoughtful.

Driving a rig to N Carolina for a job one night a number of years ago. I called into his radio show when I stopped at a motel. Had a good debate with him on-air about the war in Iraq. He was very nice and well-reasoned. One of the good liberals. RIP

It’s sad that he died, but I don’t agree that he was a reasonable liberal. Juan Williams was also less radical before Obama became president.

I never found Colmes to be reasonable either. At least he seemed to believe the crap he spewed. But I actually preferred the show as Hannity and Colmes just because it had more balance that way.
