I remember Zesto’s in Atlanta as a boy.....LOVED that food! You name it, they had it.
Popeye’s isnt all that half bad.
But we just got Chick-fil-A, so sorry to the sailor man.
I love Popeye’s.
Does that mean all of their commercials will be like BK and sonic.. two guys. No families at sonic or BK, I guess. The two men in a car commercial is weird, esp the one in a bathrobe. I just can’t do sonic because those commercials are creepy.
Who owns the Popeye character? Hanna Barbera or someone?
Just curious...
There goes Popeyes I guess. Burger King used to be good, not any more, at least to me.
A Popeyes restaurant that’s hitting on all cylinders is a great thing, but they’re sort of touch and go. Not as wobbly as Church’s (and not as great when they’re doing everything right, either) but they could definitely stand to improve upon their management and quality control.
I’m not impressed with Burger King, haven’t been for a very long time. Sounds like the death knell for Popeyes to me, since Burger Kings are closing left and right around here.
Maybe we can get more meat on the thighs.
Please no Hillary pictures!
I’ve seen this before. Major company buys smaller company which specializes in delicious cajun meals. The first think they do is Yankeefy the menu to make it more palatable to northeasterners and make the food offerings less spicy and more bland. I’m sure the portions will be smaller also because some dietician will tell them that the offerings are unhealthy.
After that, sales will plummet and the stupid yankee management will blame the customers instead of themselves.
The same thing happened to Joe’s Crab Shack restaurants and a small company that made frozen gumbo kits. Bigger companies bought them and ruined the recipes until the entities failed.
Popeyes has gone downhill in my area. The chicken is bordering on freeze-dried. I think they forgot to reconstitute it the last time I went (and forked over $35 for a family meal). Others have said the same.
Their sides and biscuits are consistent. In fact, I asked my brother to pick some up on his way over Sunday while I went to another joint for chicken only.
Among African Americans, Churchs Chicken is favorite, with Checkers and Rally’s second, and Popeyes Chicken & Biscuits third. Popeye’s ranks highest among Hispanics.
Hispanics are however divided with their two most popular chicken restaurants being Pollo Tropical (more Caribbean oriented Hispanic) and El Pollo Loco (more Mexican and central American Hispanic).
So if BK is making a push for the Hispanic market, they will likely have to change the menu, and even the name, of Popeye’s. Since Mexicans far outnumber other Hispanics in the US, this will mean moving to popular Mexican chicken dishes.

Love Popeyes!
Soon to create a terrible fast food empire to rival Yum! It’s good to have all these places I don’t eat under one corporate roof.
Noooooooo!
Burger King buys Popeyes?
NOoooooooooo!
BK can NOT do justice to Mean Greens and chicken livers.
No way.
