RUSH: I want to thank F. Chuck Todd of NBC for opening my eyes to this. For the longest time Ive been genuinely curious why it is that media people think that they cannot be criticized.
And they really do. They really think they can go out and research people and they can dig up dirt from anybody they want, their pasts, and they can broadcast it all over. And if somebodys life, somebodys marriage, somebodys relationship, somebodys kid gets destroyed or ruined, fine and dandy.
They can do all of that they want, but you turn it around and you start investigating your favorite journalist to find out how many illegitimate kids he or she might have had in college or how many DUIs they had, you know, or how many communist sympathizer meetings they went to, then all hell breaks loose and they start squealing like stuck pigs, You cant do that! Were journalists!
I said, Where does this come from? Its more than just hubris. I finally found out. You know what it is, Mr. Snerdley? These clowns actually believe that since they are recognized in the First Amendment that they have constitutional immunity.
Criticizing them is attacking the First Amendment. They really believe this. Criticizing them is akin to attacking the Constitution, and thats un-American, and thats why you hear these journalists say. Its un-American to criticize. Its un-American for Trump to be destabilizing. Its un-American for Trump to be going out there and trying to do damage to the media. Weve got First Amendment protection.
Well, so does the president, and the president happens to be mentioned in the Constitution before the media. The presidents mentioned in Article 2. The media doesnt make it til the First Amendment. But yet the media thinks theres nothing bad about running around and trying to attack political figures and destroying them.
This is what it is, folks. They are so far gone, they really think that they are the last line of defense between freedom and democracy and tyranny. And attacking them and challenging their reputation is no more and no less than attacking the Constitution and trying to destroy America and democracy. Thats what they think. That explains why you cant go after them.
Anyhow, lets take another brief break here.

RUSH: Look, the only thing the First Amendment does for the press is the same thing it gives everybody else. They can say what they want to say. Thats essentially what the First Amendment says for the press like it says it for you and me. It singles them out and references them in terms of their importance, a free and unintimidated, whatever, unattached media. And nobody objects to that, but it does not grant them immunity from criticism. It does not grant them freedom to be disagreed with. It does not grant them freedom from opposition.
They seem to think that it does. And I think it all falls under the notion of how really poorly constitutional education, American history educations been for decades in this country. Not to mention the kind of poison thats injected into the young skulls full of mush populating journalism schools all over the United States. But really, folks, its the one thing that, as far as the medias concerned, justifies what theyre doing.
Now, as I say, you wont even get them to admit what theyre doing. You wont even get them to admit theyre trying to destroy Trump. They come up with some, No, no, no, no. It is the job of the media to hold powerful people accountable. Yeah. Right. Why doesnt that apply to powerful Democrats? And dont tell me that it does, because everybody knows you give em a pass. Each and every time something comes up with em, you cover for em. Its a joke.

RUSH: Lee in North Branford, Connecticut. Welcome. Great to have you here. Hi.
CALLER: Well, its a pleasure to be talking to you, Rush.
RUSH: Thank you, sir.
CALLER: I just want to My issue is Chris Matthews (sic) yesterday. Yeah, Chris Matthews threw you a softball and I thought you kind of swung on it and missed. He talked about Trump saying the media was our enemy. And my simple simplified answer to that is, you know, you get a working guy, works all day, comes home, him and the wife sit down to eat after they sit down and watch television. And they watch one of the talking heads, whoever it might be. So they get the IRS; nothing to see here. They get Benghazi; wow, thats a little bit, but thats a ho-hum. Ben Rhodes? They probably dont know who Ben Rhodes is. Jonathan Gruber is another one. Not a clue who Jonathan Gruber is. To me, that makes em an enemy. Theyre not telling us the truth, theyre telling us half-truths, and theyre ignoring half the facts.
RUSH: Yeah, but I Im sorry I swing and missed at a Chris Matthews softball. I wasnt on the field when he tossed it, so I dont know. I dont swing and miss when Matthews throws, wild pitch or not. The reason I wanted to take your call is the Trump quote, The press is the enemy of the people, is not what he said. You know, heres Again, I guess this comes from my having a very good understanding of Donald Trump. He was talking about a subset of the media. If Trump had been talking about the whole media as the enemy of the state, thats not what the Trump quote said.
He specifically was referring to the outlets putting out misleading themes about election hacking. You cant take these comments out of context! You have to look at what he said before he said this. So when he calls the press enemy of the people, what was he talking about before it? He was talking about those elements of the media that continue to report things that arent true, and that is there is no evidence that the Russians hacked the outcome of the election! There is no evidence because it didnt happen. Theres no evidence that the Russians determined the winner of the election.
In a free society, there are no sacred cows.
The LSM LOVE to make the Story about themselves, but they hate when others make the Story about them.
The LSM LOVE to make the Story about themselves, but they hate when others make the Story about them.
Sounds pretty leftist to me. I am looking forward to the day they are crushed and that true reporting be put in their place.
“We the drive-by media...”
I love it !
The President needs to make an example out of some huge talking head or ‘journalist’, put them in their place, and give them a heavy dose of reality..........................
Hollywood ‘entertainers’ want to be ‘journalists’
‘Journalists’ want to be Hollywood ‘entertainers’.
Their combined IQ’s, SQUARED, couldn’t make minus zero.
I’d like to see someone or a bunch of someones, dig up the dirt on all these urinalists, and then post it all online. You can bet that there are lots of affairs, perversions, lies, and cheating going on among them.
Bring these media pukes down to a town-hall meeting and let the citizens tell them what they think of them. These media slugs have been living with their heads in the liberal clouds for too long. It’s like Hollywood. You don’t get that job because you’re good, you get it because you’re a degenerate liberal who knows somebody.
(I use “degenerate-liberal” in the same vein as “degenerate gambler”, i.e. somebody who gambles, doesn’t know what they’re doing, and always losing their a$$.)
It is un-American to spread Lies, Fake News, and Bullshiit about The President and his government. Dust off the Gitmo facility for these seditious fake news bastards.
Whenever one of them gets killed in the line of duty, it’s a national day of mourning. Whenever a US soldier does, it’s another opportunity to jeer the military. They’re horrible.
They’ll to things twice as smart tomorrow.
There is no such thing as THE PRESS in the sense that term is used by elitist Progressives today some sort of elite group whose members are allowed preferential treatment under law. In the Constitutional sense, the press is a technological device for disseminating information.
One cannot be a member of the press. One can only have access to a press.
Any device which enables one to state and publicize ones views is a press, whether it be moveable type, offset, TV, radio, or the Internet. We all have free access to the press, meaning we have the right to pay any provider who wishes to sell us access to publicize our ideas.
In this regard, no CBS anchor has anymore claim to special treatment for being part of the press than does any blogger.
Freedom of the press applies equally to every citizen seeking to use a technological device to record and publicize his or her opinion.
They are like the “mean girls” drama queens who don’t like the new kid in school.
I find it funny that they get worked up since they can ignore it.
I saw the piece with Chris Wallace.
Was he on with Matthews, too?
Media supports laws restricting the free practice of religion. They support “common sense” gun legislation that impacts the 2nd amendment. Sounds like it’s time for “common sense press legislation.”
Muckrakers, gossips, alcoholics, liars and not an impartial journalist amongst the lot of ‘em...they are the opposition...
They oppose the massive groundswell of disgust over their 8 years of fawning over Obama and their blatantly biased support of Clinton...they are completely unwilling to admit that they are biased...
There are no serious journalists anymore...they all twitter each other in a circle jerk attempting to create the next 30 second sound bite and firestorm story...in fifteen years their jobs will be done by robots...and us
*The President needs to make an example out of some huge talking head or journalist, put them in their place, and give them a heavy dose of reality..........................*
I think the only way our president can be more brutal with them is to slug one of them. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.
Another part of their complacency is that people were justifiably afraid to do battle in the press with folks who bought their ink in 55 gallon drums.
