Under Armour isn't cool anymore, according to a recent analyst note.
CEO Kevin Plank's comments on CNBC praising Trump make it nearly impossible to effectively build a cool urban lifestyle brand in the foreseeable future, according to the note by Susquehanna International Group, an industry research firm
Though Susquehanna does not think the brand will lose its deal with basketball star Steph Curry, "it simply cannot be good for business if the face of Under Armour spoke out so pointedly against the CEOs comments,"as Misty Copeland, and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson also did.
According to NPD sports analyst Matt Powell, younger shoppers greatly consider the moral implications of where they spend their dollars.
Millennials and Generation Z want brands and retailers to be transparent about their stands on social issues," Powell told The Baltimore Sun. If those values don't align with their views, they will take their business elsewhere.
In response to the backlash Plank's comments generated, Under Armour released two separate statements and a full page open letter in The Baltimore Sun to clarify the words and come out against Trump's executive order travel ban. . .

Yeah, under armor is way over priced. They are overdue to be undercut by 75% by imports.
My preferred brand is no name or no tag or brand name visible. Sometimes you don’t have much choice but if I can I buy clothing that doesn’t advertise itself.
Some folks are willing to pay more for better quality, styling, though. Sometimes you do indeed get what you pay for. I will say the UA we have, mens and womens, is well made of great materials, looks very good, and has worn well.
LOL, I like their TACO soup when it’s available, or the fact that it is something other than a burger for fast food.
When the Under Armour CEO made the news last week for his Trump comments, I assumed the company was in the deodorant business. LOL.
I don’t buy UA much. But, if the libs are going to try to damage them like they did the Chicken place, I’ll go buy something every week.

Because SPORTS ANALYSTS know what consumers want.
And they want the companies to piss-off half of their customers by taking a stand on politics.
Thanks liberal media!
Business Insider is a rabid leftwing rag.
>>Under Armours prob is it sells stuff to an increasingly smaller population. With folks getting older and/or fatter, fewer people to buy their stuff.<<
True. I have a UA shirt I got from the outlet store and even through it is the right size, I look like a badly-stuffed sausage when I wear it.
;)
Yes, Curry is a punk and whined. But two of its other big sports stars (Jordan Spieth and Tom Brady) are not anti Trump.
Very disappointed in Kevin plank. you have to know where you stand or you stand for nothing it’s just that simple. this guy was all over the map. I started a Pinterest page for UnderArmour to support him when he came out for Trump and the minute he flip-flopped I took the page down. Then did a #boycottUnderArmour
What those of us that are employed need to understand is that our employers have to take certain political stands to simply be relevant, stay alive and be competitive in the marketplace both globally and domestically. We as employees should not and cannot get involved with the political agenda of our CEOs because they report to stockholders and board members. Leave your politics and your religion at home when you go to work or start your own company.
UA: expensive queer gear.
According to NPD sports analyst Matt Powell
I’m so uncool and unhip that I had to look him up.
“Curry has been outspoken about his Christian faith.[150][151] Curry spoke about his faith during his MVP speech by saying, “People should know who I represent and why I am who I am, and that’s because of my Lord and Savior.” He also said the reason that he pounds his chest and points up is that he has a “heart for God” and as a reminder that he plays for God.[152] On some of his “Curry One” basketball shoes, there is a lace loop scripted “4:13”.[153] It is a reference to the Bible verse Philippians 4:13, which reads “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”.[154][155] Curry has a tattoo of First Corinthians, 13:8 in Hebrew on his wrist (”Love never fails...”)” - Wiki
So...devout Christian who was happy to be seen with Obama. Seems to me a contradiction, since Obama did everything he could to destroy Christians and freedom of religion in America.
I haven’t used UA in years, nor will I. Pro-Trump, then anti-Trump. I’ve no use for weasels. But in truth, I never liked Under Armour stuff.
Curry One sounds like a Thai restaurant!
I’m going to start buying Underarmor.
This will put all the BLMers at the U of Maryland in a moral quandary as UA supplies the athletic gear to the university. While their football team doesn’t interest me, I wouldn’t mind it if the ladies’ lacrosse team refused to wear their uniforms.
Just do a web search for Badger compression. Big difference in price.
The woman she spoke to today confirmed that my wife has never had an insufficient funds incident and admitted this was an intentional act and the employees supervisor will be notified. She was also very apologetic.
They say they are looking into it. But, I am not satisfied. Not sure what our next step should be.
