Under Armour made some huge mistakes that are turning into a nightmare

Under Armour isn't cool anymore, according to a recent analyst note.

CEO Kevin Plank's comments on CNBC praising Trump make it “nearly impossible to effectively build a cool urban lifestyle brand in the foreseeable future,” according to the note by Susquehanna International Group, an industry research firm

Though Susquehanna does not think the brand will lose its deal with basketball star Steph Curry, "it simply cannot be good for business if the face of Under Armour spoke out so pointedly against the CEO’s comments,"as Misty Copeland, and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson also did.

According to NPD sports analyst Matt Powell, younger shoppers greatly consider the moral implications of where they spend their dollars.

“Millennials and Generation Z want brands and retailers to be transparent about their stands on social issues," Powell told The Baltimore Sun. “If those values don't align with their views, they will take their business elsewhere.”

In response to the backlash Plank's comments generated, Under Armour released two separate statements and a full page open letter in The Baltimore Sun to clarify the words and come out against Trump's executive order travel ban. . .

“Millennials and Generation Z want brands and retailers to be transparent about their stands on social issues," and, then, what???

Do these ignorant-of-their-nation's-history, propagandized and constitutionally-illiterate "millennials" and "Generation Z" zombies think that compliance with Progressive censorship of all ideas except their own will afford them the kind of lifestyle they want for themselves?

And, when these young and strong athletes who have benefitted from living in a land of freedoms only dreamed about by other generations find that, by castigating a corporate owner for expressing a political opinion different than their own, they have destroyed the very idea of liberty itself, then who will pay the astronomical prices to see them display their athletic talents?

I live northeast of Baltimore and am probably the only person in the state without a full complement of Under Armour clothing.

I have one shirt that’s about 15 years old. It’s weird.

Under Armour’s prob is it sells stuff to an increasingly smaller population. With folks getting older and/or fatter, fewer people to buy their stuff.

Could have stopped there and the answer would have been “no”.

Urban lifestyle, for ladies anyway, appears to be skintight yoga pants/tights and tops, body hugging outerwear, and overpriced footwear. Eddie Bauer, Athleta, UA all vying for the same dwindling number of people who can wear this stuff.

“Steph Curry is easily the biggest star in UnderArmour’s endorsement line-up”

Their success cannot possibly be because of him. I’ve never even heard of him and I’m sure I’m not alone. But I’m pretty familiar with underarmor though.

Walmart and college football has had more more effect on underarmor than some bastitball jones.

My 12-year-old son goes to a school where just about every boy wears Under Armour gear. I asked him if his friends will stop wearing Under Armour because the CEO said something good about Trump.

The look I got tells me this won't have any impact outside the liberal hell hole that is Baltimore.

LOL. I was out and about today. Saw quite a few ladies in urban wear. With one lone exception, the wearers were obese. So I doubt they were wearing UA or Athleta. Don’t know if EB’s urban gear comes in plus sizes.

We’ve got some UA. I won’t argue the high price point, but the quality is excellent.

Any CEO that publicly praises or criticizes Trump should be fired. Idiots just dissed half the market. This country is too divided.
