NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A total of 18 people were fired from a Tennessee business after joining the nation-wide protest "A Day Without Immigrants."
The 18 employees at Bradley Coatings, Incorporated in Nolensville, Tennessee told their supervisors on Wednesday they'd be taking part in the nationwide movement. Then, on Thursday, they were told they no longer had jobs.
"We are the team leaders directly under the supervisors and they informed us last night that we could not go back to work and the boss said we were fired," one employee said.
The former employee asked to remain anonymous but had this message to his former boss.
"I would tell him he was unfair, after working for them for so many years, giving him our best. They could not understand that it was just one day. We were going to make up that day on a Sunday, but they didn't understand that, and it was not the best way. They didn't give us an opportunity and just told us we were fired," he said.

Ah! Another class-action lawsuit for Soros to fund!
In most cases...
Lets see if the company holds their ground after the inevitable outrage, boycotts and protests start against them for their “cruel” actions.
Termination with cause or resignation does. We’ll have to wait and see. But there won’t be any Justice Department behind them now.
Words have meaning actions (in the real world - not a liberal fantasy world) have consequences dick weed. Go on welfare like the rest of the turds in your illegal world or better yet get the F&^K out of our country.
Good deal. Hopefully the first 18 folks to show up in a MAGA hat get hired.
Apparently they proved to the boss he could live without them.
Pray America woke
Termination with cause or resignation does. Well have to wait and see. But there wont be any Justice Department behind them now.

No, but there will be some activist judge who makes sure they “get one over” on the employer.
You, sir, are a dumbass.
The purpose of the protest was to prove to the boss and everyone else that they were indispensable. I’m guessing that’s one of those little presumptions that just got examined a little more closely...
Stupid is as stupid does.
On a continuing non-stop production line, you can’t “make up” for an absence. You weren’t where you were supposed to be. Your spot had to be covered by someone else. You REMOVED YOURSELF from the picture. Watch out for the doorknob! Bye!
I love a happy ending.
It is called “job abandonment”. I’ve witnessed it in CA when a sketchy employee disappeared... Aaaaand he gone.
Employers finally feel able to stand up
They should be thrilled, they turned a “day without immigrants” into a whole bunch of days without immigrants. Nice movement.
The company doesn’t exist to be “fair” to them. Those who were fired need to study up on why companies are created.
The anonymous employee was quoted as saying his employer didn’t give him an opportunity. I would like to have someone explain to this idiot that his employer gave him an opportunity to make a living.
That employer didn’t have to do that. The employer expected the one given that opportunity to make a living actually come to work. No one said the employer had to beg for that employee to show up he just expected it.
Therefore, if you don’t show up for work that equals no longer wanting the opportunity to make a living.

“Tennessee is an employment-at-will state which basically means an employer can end your
employment at any time without reason or cause. Of course there are a lot of different
stipulations, civil rights issues that could stop them from doing that,” Department of Labor
and Workforce Development spokesman, Chris Cannon said.
Bradley Coatings, Inc.’s attorney released the following statement:
“Bradley Coatings, Incorporated (BCI) is a family-owned, Nashville-based business that provides
commercial painting services to its clients on a very demanding schedule. Established in
1986, BCI has always celebrated diversity and supported the immigrant community. This past Wednesday night, certain employees of BCI informed their
leadership that they would not be at work the following day. Because of the time-sensitive
nature of the jobs these employees were assigned to, all employees were told that they would
need to show up for work or they would be terminated. On Thursday, the majority of BCIs
employees fulfilled their obligations to our clients, but eighteen employees did not.
Regretfully, and consistent with its prior communication to all its employees, BCI had no
choice but to terminate these individuals. The reason these employees missed workto
engage in peaceful demonstrationshad nothing to do with BCIs decision to terminate them.
BCI regrets this situation, but it has contracted with its clients to complete work on a
schedule set by the clients general contractor. BCI will review its procedures in an
effort to avoid similar issues in the future, and will continue to provide timely service
to its clients and support to the Nashville immigrant community.”

Adios muchacho
Yes, including when the boss lies to the unemployment dept about it. Been there, done that.
I was laid off, he said “We don’t need you any more”, the day I told a machine shop owner in Texas I couldn’t work overtime because my registration was expired and I had to be at their office to renew it, and in fact was planning to ask to get off an hour early to do it. He came out a few minutes later and told me they didn’t need me any more.
I contested it, got a phone hearing with me, former boss and unemployment office. He lied, told them on the phone I was fired for not doing my job. I asked them ok, if I was not doing my job, why did he ask me to work overtime a few minutes earlier?
No good, unemployment office believed the boss, of course, and denied unemployment. He lied, got away with it, screwed me in the process. Another one did similar.
The unemployment office people tend to lean toward the boss every time, unless you have some pretty convincing evidence he was in the wrong. At least here in east Texas...if the boss says you weren’t doing your job, they don’t go talk to other employees, or anything else, they just take his word for it, even if he’s lying, even if he asked you to work over time just before your “firing”.
