East Germany on the Potomac

The recently orchestrated and completely coordinated take-down of National Security Adviser Michael Flynn from deep within the shadows of the American government should send chills down the spines of every American.

As the far-left and many in the anti-Trump media openly cheer their first “scalp,” President Trump immediately went to Twitter to underscore the real danger of what just happened to General Flynn.

Said the president: “The real story here is why are there so many illegal leaks coming out of Washington? Will these leaks be happening as I deal on N. Korea, etc?”

President Trump then followed that tweet up by saying: “The real scandal here is that classified information is illegally given out by “intelligence” like candy. Very un-American!,” and “Information is being illegally given to the failing @nytimes & @washingtonpost by the intelligence community (NSA and FBI?), just like Russia.”

How correct the president is to point out the seriousness of these illegal leaks.

Make no mistake. The political assassination of Michael Flynn was a crime carried out in a way which would have made the operatives from any past or current police state blush with pride.

Is that our new reality? East Germany on the Potomac?

Anonymous and even cowardly career intelligence operatives with a strong bias against President Trump recording the conversations of the president’s nominee to be National Security Adviser and then selectively leaking edited snippets of those conversations to liberal members of the media who share their ideology--all done with the goal of driving Michael Flynn out of his job.

Is that the new “norm” in Washington and in the intelligence community? For if so, it signals the end of democracy for our republic.

Who is next on this Shadow Government’s list? What formerly uncross-able lines will they next cross to carry out their objectives? Is any means now on the table?

As many in the media and the far-left cheer this chilling and illegal take-down of Michael Flynn, they should take a deep breath and ask themselves how they would feel – and more importantly how they would report – had it been conservative ideologues in the intelligence community who had been illegally leaking information damaging to President Obama and his policies to conservative talk show hosts.

There is zero doubt how they would have reacted. It would have been non-stop banner headlines and breathless network and cable-network voices condemning such a partisan breaking of the law while calling for the conservative intelligence operatives to be hunted down and prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

It is not an exaggeration to state that the election of Donald J. Trump has unhinged many on the far-left and a growing number of “journalists.” But even understanding that new reality, many of these liberal activists and ideologues in the media are quite bright and have to understand that there can be no good end to cheering the partisan-motivated tactics of shadow operatives trying to deliberately sabotage the Trump administration by dialing-up a targeted disinformation campaign.

I fear our only hope now is for the honorable men and women in our intelligence communities to step-up and stop these rogue agents not only breaking the laws of our nation, but threatening our very democracy.

Should they not, the unaccountable Shadow Government will have won.

Its going to take awhile to weed these people out. Long overdue though. I have every faith in Trump’s ability to drain the swamp.

It’s not just the left that’s rooting for the deep state. Billy Kristol for example is 100% cool with it all. Can there be any doubt that other establishment elites, like John McCain, are also on board?

If the Obama bureacrats are so hard to fire, then eliminate their positions...Defund their department...Lay them of (which is different from firing), then rebuild...

As slow as the government has worked in the past, there won’t be a time problem...They won’t be missed for days or weeks...

I thought the primary reason Flynn is gone was he lied to VP Pence ? Was that fake news ?

That’s my feeling too. Where are the white hats? They say President Trump will never be able to catch these guys, but if that’s true this country is really in trouble. I have faith that inside the community will take care of this

I don’t see the East Germany parallel. When did the Stasi ever leak secret gov’t information to the press?

I think we don’t know - and hopefully will never know - what passed between Pence and Flynn.

If it was put to Trump by Pence that he couldn’t trust Flynn, then Flynn had to go.

Simple as that.

McCain may very well be on board. But I don’t see him as being behind anything. I see him as being 100% out for himself and a puppet of others who have more of an agenda. If puppets can be elite, then I suppose he’s elite.

None of this makes any sense to me. Maybe there is a lot more that hasn’t been revealed. Maybe this is an early move in a long chess game. At this point, to me it all looks like a tempest in a teapot and for Flynn to resign or be fired seems to be an odd reaction to a nothing burger situation. Maybe we’ll eventually learn more and it will make sense.

Hannity had Joe DeGenova on his show and he said the Valerie Plame "scandel" is a bump compared to the mountain of illegality that took place against Mike Flynn.

I heard him explain that very few people in the IC would have the clearance to see who was speaking with the Russian Ambassador. They say that when they heard an American citizen's voice on the other end of the line while legally listening to the Ambassador, they are required by law, our constitutional law, to stop listening and get a warrant to continue the listening.

He said Sessions should convene a grand jury right away and bring in the few people that would have known about this conversation. Some other analysts recommended starting with Brenner, Ben Rhodes and Sally Yates, they are the tip of the spear.

If you can, contact my Senator Wyden, the intelligence go to person for the democrats. Remember he is the one who asked Clapper if the NSA was listening to all of us, remember?
