Less than a month into his presidency, Donald Trump's enemies are already scenting blood. They hope they have got him on the run over the resignation of Michael Flynn as his National Security Adviser.
Flynn was forced to stand down for secretly discussing sanctions against Russia with the country's ambassador to America in the weeks before Trump took office and then trying to cover up his foolish and possibly illegal behaviour.
It is being suggested that Flynn's goose was cooked by the FBI and CIA, who had tapped these phone-calls, and gleefully leaked transcripts of them. Was this pay-back time for Trump's recent dismissive criticisms of the U.S. intelligence services?
And are the CIA and the FBI also conspiring against their commander-in-chief because they disapprove of his stated intention to try to mend fences with Russia?
Whatever the truth, Flynn was clearly out of order in discussing sanctions with the Russian ambassador, and then pretending he had not done so. He obviously had to go.
But it does not follow that the more constructive policy towards Russia championed by Trump and Flynn should also be jettisoned, as the CIA and America's military Establishment not to mention much of the country's media would apparently like....

I’ve read Carroll Quigley’s “Tragedy and Hope.” He is a Harvard PhD and professor at Georgetown and Bill Clinton’s mentor. He was allowed to look at all of the CFR’s private archives in order to write a history of the west. He labelled the leaders in the west (the Rockefellers, Rothschilds, Morgans, Mellons, etc) as the Anglo-American establishment.
What he said about Russia is basically this:
The only real threat to the Anglo-American establishment is a combined Russia and Germany. Russia has the theoretical science and Germany has the engineering genius that is the only real threat to the US/Western European alliance. For this reason, the United States has always been an adversary to Russia. In fact, as Col L Fletcher Prouty has pointed out, a month before the Eisenhower and Kruschev talks the U2 was shot down over Russia to create an international incident that would disrupt the talks. He was in the Kennedy administration (working for the Joint Chiefs as the CIA liason) and he said the U2 had no optics and was meant to be shot down. He named other times that Russia/US talks have been sabotaged by these people.
They maintain their power by ensuring that there is a wedge between Russia and the US. China is their puppet and part of the NWO.
I know. Quite right. Still...this rhetoric about Watergate is a bit frightening.
That said...when this blows over...what are they going to say the next time they invent a crisis?
They’ve already used Hitler and Watergate....what do they have left except repeats?
I dunno ... maybe they'll call Trump the long-lost @ss-baby of Adolph Hitler and Josef Stalin.
All Trump ever said was that he wanted to talk with Putin. Apparently that was enough to cause the entire DNC and most of the GOP to want to go to war with Russia.
Funny you should bring up watergate. It appears watergate was invented by the powers that be to get rid of Nixon because he wasn’t okay with their plan to outsource US manufacturing to China in the 1970s:
We don’t need to be friends with Putin, but lets not follow the war-mongering path of Obama and Clinton either.
You are so correct, thank you.
Turn to Kennan.
Don’t be pals with a paranoid people that do not have a warn water port.
I did see a statement on FR that President Trump should take a leaf from Admiral Farragut. He was facing the Spanish fleet in the battle for Cuba. Something to the effect of "Steer her straight& damn the torpedoes"."The concern could be that the charges about Russian influence etc. may take a life of it's own. Thus like a giant snowball gathering size and momentum.
If it is all speculation and absolutely nothing can really come of it, hopefully it will not cause permanent damage. A little quote from Shakespeare here, that could well describe a corrupt and unscrupulous segment of the MSM. Add some of the Canadian media to that.
It is a tale told by an idiot.
Full of sound and fury.
Signifying nothing.
McBeth. Act 5. Scene 5.
Thanks for this
If ya wanna pick nits...
It's not an "operational resupply" because they're delivering new equipment up there for scientific work. If that mission gets scrubbed, the crew's workload simply changes for the next few months.
If the Progress mission fails, there could be serious repercussions for the crew.
Define it how you want. The next launch of F9 is a CRS mission...which stands for Commercial Resupply Services.
Your comment is about the content of a particular resupply mission, and it is true that some are more important then others. But CRS missions also take life sustaining cargo as both Dragon and Cygnus have done; half the reason for the program is to reduce dependence on Soyuz.
My original comment is this: there is another station resupply mission on Saturday, and that’s a fact, as it is CRS10. As in, “Commercial Resupply Flight 10”....
