Wouldn’t it be far more interesting if they gave one a tax credit for having health insurance? Instead of penalizing those without...reward the behavior you want?

You shouldn’t be forced to by medical insurance. I didn’t have any until my employer paid insurance in my 30s.

Yes, you got it backwards. The statute specifically said a "fine". Obamacare even argued that before the USSC. Justice Roberts re-defined it as a tax which made the whole mess legal. If he had NOT done that, it would have never passed as a fine. We're all still wondering what was being held over his head to arbitrarily change the legal definition.

Don't hear much from Roberts since he knows he screwed the American populace by making us purchase a private product, by force of arms. It still makes me sick.

ObamaCare as it was originally rolled out was a totalitarian takeover move.

A judge somewhere will overturn this to make sure Obamacare penalties remain enforced by the IRS.

"I do hope something can be done for people with pre-existing conditions through no fault of their own can also be covered at reasonable rates."

Congress is looking into "high risk pools" for those folks.

"Insuring kids well into adulthood should cost extra though but keep it available."

I could see children up to 18, but up to 25 year old adults? Pfft.

The mandate should be stricken entirely, for starters. This will leave no doubt as to whether it should be reported by the taxpayer. But Obamacare must be stricken in its entirety, and those agencies that were created as a result of this mess should be shuttered. End it, don't mend it.

Not enough.

Congress should just re-pass last year’s bill which repealed the penalty, and this time the President would sign it. (Obama vetoed it.)

Could care less which it WAS, tax or fine. Fedzilla has NO authority to force any Citizen to buy a product. *NOTHING* in A1S8.

They can tax ‘til the cows come home but only for that which is authorized.

I’m sure that was bantered back and worth at length /s

Are we just cherry picking laws too? I don’t like the law but it is a law.

It's a law that is repugnant to the Constitution, the Declaration of Independence, and two and a half centuries of American experience.

Passing it was an act of treason against all of the above, and the people. The thirteen colonies rebelled against King George III for less.

“I do hope something can be done for people with pre-existing condition.”

I think this would be a wonderful charity.

Any government solution probably runs into territory covered by my tagline.

Great news indeed. However, I never answered that stupid Q on my forms, as per my tax attorney. He hates the IRS too so he’s my tax atty. ;)

That’s a good question. Post as an actual thread and you’ll get the answers.

That was shocker. A tax for something we didn't buy! Made me sick.

Judicial tyranny. On June 28, 2012, I took my American flag down. Went back up November 9, 2016!

start with IRS pub 502. I think there may be a way to deduct all expense but you must pass 2 requirements
person has been deemed diminished AND need help with
basic living skills daily.. If you can get that documentation.

How about a compromise of those young folks needing to be in school, college or trade school, to be eligible? Kinda hard to pay for insurance while also going to school and paying for that.

"How about a compromise of those young folks needing to be in school, college or trade school, to be eligible? Kinda hard to pay for insurance while also going to school and paying for that."

First, very few youngsters in their 20's care about health insurance. They think they will live forever.
Secondly, how many are actually paying for their college education? They're either on their parents' dime or scholarships or student loans or affirmative action, while colleges indoctrinate them into the marxist agenda.

I would be willing to work with those who attend trade school or limited their colleges courses to subjects that work in the real world. 25 years old and living in Mom's basement or sucking off the taxpayers doesn't work for me.

Pre-existing conditions is not insurance. I still can't believe the insurance companies supported Obamacarefail because they would get millions more in quantity. And what has happened? They pull out of Obambicare almost every month because of the higher costs of additional patients. Every insurance CEO who bought into that coming fiasco should be fired. I only owned 3 small businesses and saw they would lose money.

Then there is the average taxpayer who has experienced huge increases in their premiums, not to mention deductibles. Yeah, I know, the whole thing was designed to fail to be replaced by single-payer. You think the insurance companies thought about that? And what about all the Doctors who have retired, the closed Hospitals and on?

No matter where you stand on Obamacare, it has been an epic failure. But that's what you get with Fedgov solutions. Free markets are the only solution.

This insuring your adult kids thing is not such a big deal. No one is saying the parent can’t pay for their 25 year old kid’s own plan. Sheesh. After all, the parent probably cares more about the kid having coverage in an emergency than the kid!
