From what I’ve read it is more the fact that he lied to Pence about it than the content of the conversation itself. So if that’s the case, Flynn “got himself” andany objective person would not want someone in the National Security Advisor slot who lies to their #1.

One of the reasons Flynn was named to this intelligence post (as opposed to other top positions in the administration) was that this position doesn’t require Senate confirmation. I’m sure he had a lot of potential conflicts of interest that would have made a confirmation process a long and acrimonious one.
