This was more-or-less predicted
here and
here yesterday, but sets up an interesting battle between the (GOP) Governor Bentley and the GOP-controlled state legislature.
The Governor has been under fire for his affair with staff insider Rebekah Caldwell Mason and his handling of both state and campaign funds.
As Attorney General for Alabama, it was Strange's duty to investigate these allegations, but there's been a slow-down of this over the past year and many are wondering if this appointment today is intended to further derail that investigation going forward.

Prototypical evil fascist big business owner name. He might be great, but who would know? “Luther Strange?” Should’ve changed his name earlier in life.

I wish they’d go with young, extremely conservative, guys (or gals) when such an appointment comes up for the Senate, since there is so much incumbency advantage.
Oh, well. I’m glad that Sessions is the AG.

By the way, in terms of voting, Sen. Strange should be a reliable GOP vote all the way... the concerns involve the ethics conflict (noted above) and the fact that Gov. Bentley supported John Kasich during the primary season last year.
That said, Strange was probably going to run for Governor in 2018... he still might, but things are different now.

Anyone who thinks Strange is very similar to Sessions is in for a shock. Strange is 6’ 9” tall.

Can’t see where the alleged problem is located. Obama’s people did things like this on a daily basis. Let the courts figure out if the Gov. did something wrong. If so, Prosecute. If not, STFU

Anyone with the last name “Strange” who doesn’t get a doctorate is seriously missing an opportunity :D

He does have a “strange” name; “Luther” is just not that popular.

The “scandals” sound like BS. If the Governor committed adultery, that’s his wife’s problem.
