Here's How the Trump Muslim Ban Will Slam U.S. Economy
Forbes ^ | 2/1/17 | John Wasik

Posted on 02/07/2017 10:29:09 AM PST by fivecatsandadog

The travel curbs on people coming in from selected Muslim countries is going to hurt the U.S. economy. President Trump and his advisers are bamboozling Americans into thinking that it's all about national security.

The ill-conceived, cruel restriction of just a handful of Muslim-dominated countries is a sideshow to some harmful moves that Trump has promised. A potential trade war will cripple the U.S. economy in a number of ways. It starts with restricting people from emigrating to the U.S.

Financial markets on Monday initially reacted negatively to the Trump ban. The value of the dollar relative to other world currencies also declined.

Most of all, any punitive immigration ban discourages people who want to start businesses and prosper in the U.S. from emigrating. I know a young Syrian lawyer who's trying to move here from Saudi Arabia to start a business in America and is stymied in his diligent efforts to start a new life. The whole prospect of immigration discrimination is un-American.

Promising researchers, engineers, academics and other professionals will stay away from the U.S. if the know they're not welcome or will be routinely detained and interrogated at U.S. airports. I know one Iranian scholar who's been arrested and detained in his own country and came to the U.S. for academic and religious freedom.

Of course, leading minds in any field have their choice of countries in which to settle and work. They can go to Canada or Europe, or perhaps China, which is always trying to recruit top intellects.

Apparently, national security takes a back seat to the national economy.

Leaving the US vulnerable to error attacks is good for the economy? Who knew?

Wasn’t aware we needed Muslims in order to function as a nation?

Promising researchers, engineers, academics and other professionals will stay away from the U.S. if the know they're not welcome ... blah, blah, blah ...

Just how many "promising ..." anythings will be coming from nations where the average national IQs range from 67 to 84?

This is unadulterated hysterical poppycock. A three-month ban on a handful of backward countries is not going to affect the economy. These people have lost their minds.

I’m rather confident that the US economy will do just fine and will not even notice, the lack of new mooselimbs into the US. Except of course, government handouts will not go higher due to them, and less of an increase in law enforcement and court costs. So, actually, I would clearly say the US economy is better off without these new invaders, and better still if we ejected the ones who are here.

Most of The Islamic invaders add almost nothing to the American economy. Rather they cost us all
In huge welfare and housing and education expenses paid for by taxpayers money. Plus super- sized security and policing extra expenses to deal with their riots and terrorist attacks on American Christians , Jews, nursing homes, shopping malls, pizza parlor, kindergartens, and military bases. Send them home. Send them home. Send them home. While we still can.

Not only is President Trump’s moratorium not a ban on Muislims, it is not a ban on anyone else. It is a short-term stopgap measure intended to be replaced with more effective vetting procedures.

At least being randomly detained and interrogated at airports isn't a big problem for promising American researchers, engineers, academics and other professionals. Except that being regularly detained and interrogated is something that they deal with every time they travel. And that hasn't slammed the US economy at all for over 15 years.

author is very anti-American in thinking the USofA needs more and more immigrants instead of raising up its own people and educating and training it’s own people.

He needs thicker glasses to even see his own need for thicker glasses.
