WASHINGTON (WABC) -- Starbucks says it will hire 10,000 refugees over the next five years, a response to President Donald Trump's indefinite suspension of Syrian refugees and temporary travel bans that apply to six other Muslim-majority nations.

The move sparked calls for a boycott, and on Monday morning, #BoycottStarbucks was the top trend on Twitter.

Howard Schultz, the coffee retailer's chairman and CEO, said in a letter to employees Sunday that the hiring would apply to stores worldwide and the effort would start in the United States where the focus would be on hiring immigrants "who have served with U.S. troops as interpreters and support personnel."

Schultz betraying local labor available within the community it profits from. He’s a pandering jackass.

How stupid can this guy be! He is going to hire Muslims who worked with U.S. forces. There are terrorists among us. Any Muslim who worked with our military might as well put a target on their back.

I quit buying their crappy coffee years ago. IF they want to hire the misogynistic, vile worldview that embraces pederasty and pedophilia and killing others who don’t submit to their vile, irrational “worldview”, I certainly will never, ever go there again!

Why don’t they pull out of the US and base their evil-promoting business in Yemen.

Once Starbucks starts getting sued because their Muslim baristas are raping the customers and their coworkers then they might reconsider this.

I remember going to team (work) meetings at Starbucks. Where I would get a hot chocolate.

I think the last time I spent any money there was then - that was 1996.

Looking forward to more locations shut down, too.

Schultz added that Starbucks would aim to communicate with workers more frequently, saying Sunday, "I am hearing the alarm you all are sounding that the civility and human rights we have all taken for granted for so long are under attack."

Schultz makes up lies that are nearly as unbelievable as those of his idol, Hillary.

As for a boycott? Not needed in my case; as soon as I read the headline I made other plans, coffeewise.

By being refugees don’t they get rent and money? (at least they do in Europe)

How does it work in the USA? are they provided a place rent free and a monthly check?

Why would they want to work?

Besides I think it is discriminatory to hire a refugee in preference of other qualified people seeking the same job, it might be illegal.

Starbucks wants to hire refugees, but they hardly ever hire black people from the community.

I found that Aldi has a single serving size of Mocha Latte (bottled) for $1.16. It’s delicious and taste better than anything Starbucks ever made.

So no more Starbucks for me. I’m also letting all my friends know about the great and reasonably priced coffee at Aldi!

Having never patronized them, I can’t boycott.

I encourage everyone who does to boycott them, though.
