The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office is looking into the mysterious death 51 years ago of newspaper writer and “What’s My Line?” star Dorothy Kilgallen, who was investigating the JFK assassination, The Post has learned.
The stunning development comes after a new book, “The Reporter Who Knew Too Much,” suggests Kilgallen was murdered to shut down her relentless pursuit of a Mafia don linked to JFK and Lee Harvey Oswald.
Joan Vollero, a spokeswoman for DA Cyrus Vance Jr., confirmed that a staffer has read the book, and reviewed a letter from author Mark Shaw citing new leads, medical evidence, and witnesses overlooked when Kilgallen, 52, died suddenly on Nov. 8, 1965, at the peak of her career.
“Victims have rights whether their name is Dorothy Kilgallen or Dorothy Doe, and Kilgallen was denied justice in 1965. That’s why I’m fighting for her.”
Shaw said he has received dozens of emails from readers demanding an official investigation. One “called her ‘a patriot’ who should be revered for risking her life to solve the JFK assassination.”
Kilgallen, who wrote a widely syndicated column for the New York Journal-American, was the only reporter ever to interview Jack Ruby, who shot Oswald, and published Ruby’s closed-door testimony to the Warren Commission before its official release. Her enemies ranged from Frank Sinatra to FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover.

I think there was another woman whose death was tied to the Kennedys - name was Mary Jo or something like that.
It seemed like an open and shut case of criminally negligent homicide by drunk driving off a bridge.
Maybe the press should try to get to the bottom of that.

Go to youtube and search for her final appearance as a panelist on “What’s My Line?” that was taped that morning and you will see that she looks and acts like she’s three sheets to the wind.
Do another search and you will find clips of her being incoherent live and on the air on other episodes of the same program. There is no mystery as to why she died.
Tragic, preventable, and 100% self-inflicted, albeit probably unintentionally.
Dr. Michael Baden, who later became the city’s chief medical examiner, told a prior author, Lee Israel, that the dosage in Kilgallen’s bloodstream was the stunning equivalent of “15 to 20” 100-milligram Seconal capsules.
“The amount of barbiturates was more than enough to kill her,” Baden confirmed to The Post. But, he said, cops ruled out suicide and found “nothing suspicious about the death. There was no suggestion that this was a homicide.”
Shaw raises doubts. Two toxicologists who worked in the Brooklyn Medical Examiner’s Office, Shaw learned, discovered the extra barbiturates in lab tests three years after Kilgallen’s death but did not alert authorities.
The Brooklyn office did Kilgallen’s autopsy — not the office in Manhattan, where she died — an unusual move that was never explained. The Brooklyn office was tightly controlled by the mob, Dr. Steven Goldner, who worked in that office, told Shaw.
“They deliberately sent Kilgallen’s body to Brooklyn as part of the cover-up,” Shaw says.

She was one of the few reporters to hint at JFK’s womanizing and his affair with Marilyn Monroe while Jack was alive. So why aren’t the Kennedys mentioned as potential enemies.

Geriatric Sluthing at it’s best. It only becomes safe to look into this stuff when everyone who could be indicted is as dead as the potential witnesses.
It looks to be right up their alley. They wouldn’t want to look too hard at the current corruption crop in Manhattan including HRC...

They should be looking to find out if she found anything on the Clintons.
