What are we to think of our new president?
Well, first, its only been a week.
Second, many of us already know what we think, knew going in, and havent changed our minds.
But, third, wow. Between jobs meetings, executive orders, trip to Philly, war with media, talking torture and the wall, phone time with Vladimir Putin, AND roiling the immigrant and refugee world with U.S. entry bans, Week One was a whirlwind.
First impressions depend where you stand.
Those more or less on board go with English proverbs: First impressions are the most lasting, meaning were in for an Energizer Bunny incumbency of drum-beating and constant movement to get good things done.
Others may like the view of Franz Kafka: First impressions are always unreliable, noise and activity dont translate into good things getting done, or, oh my God, our futures Kafkaesque.
Lets review.
Meetings with business and labor leaders on jobs, wages, and making things in America with American workers were encouraging first steps. If Trump creates or saves jobs, no matter what you think of him, thats good, right?
Business honchos have an ally in cutting corporate tax rates and federal regulations. And union leaders at least were at the table.
(Though I bet Democrats where banging their foreheads on their tables, thinking, "Oh, great. Another part of whats left of our coalition tempted into Trumpland.") [continued]

He has already taken names!
Now, it is time to open a can of Major Whoop Ass on them!
What’s not to like with President Trump?
He’s completing what we wanted done.
“WINNING!”
LOVING EVERY MINUTE OF IT!!!
Where can I buy a ticket? I’m in.
LOL
The City of Brotherly Love is averaging a murder a day in 2017 but I dont think the leftys at the Inquirer are losing any sleep over it.
Hear hear!!!
Me too on both
Heh heh, A LOT of us do that!
On a scaled of 1 to 10
1 being Obama and 10 being George Washington
I give President Trump a 10. He’s way better than I even imagined. I love what he is doing!
I love him!
1) He was well prepared. He hit the ground running. Was this Trump or his team.....both. He knows how to delegate and hold people accountable.
2) He touched a lot of bases......see #1...of things he said he would change.
3) He appeared to work incessantly. see #1
4) He did the unexpected. Met with unions and business leaders and wowed them both. Didn’t need to choose sides because he was not beholden to either.....see #1.
5) He called out the media when they were dishonest. I love this. I also love the fact he speaks directly to the people. Always been a fan....
For the first time in over four presidents, I don’t have to pay attention to how my government if going to screw me over based on policy. I can pay attention on a need to know basis. I don’t have to waste a lot of time trying to understand the facts. If the media is pissed off, I can sleep like a baby.
He is doing great.
Great! Watching leftist heads disintegrate is the best fun in years.
It’s impossible to pick the one best thing about week one. A good candidate was the words of the union bosses after leaving their meeting with the president (”best meeting of my life”) underscoring dummicrat desperation as they lose the unions, with their $ and foot soldiers, to the Trump revolution.
Agreed.
Trump is fantastic president
It’s been a fun ride, hasn’t it been Hippy :)
