Judge blocks deportation of detainees over Trump refugee order
The Hill ^ | 1/28/17 | BROOKE SEIPEL

The federal court for the Eastern District of New York has issued an emergency stay halting President Trump's executive order banning immigrants from seven Muslim-majority countries from entering the U.S, The Verge reported Saturday night.

The court ruled on a habeas corpus petition filed by the ACLU on behalf of two Iraqi men who were detained at John F. Kennedy International Airport on Friday after Trump's ban.

Since then both men, Hameed Khalid Darweesh and Sameer Abdulkhaleq Alshaw, have reportedly been granted entry to the U.S.

Trump's order handed down Friday bars Syrian refugees indefinitely and halts the resettlement of all refugees for four months for the administration to review the vetting process.

Admission will resume only after vetting has been deemed "adequate" by the secretary of State, the secretary of Homeland Security and Director of National Intelligence.

The order also denies entry for 90 days for individuals from seven predominantly Muslims countries: Iraq, Iran, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Libya and Yemen.

Yes.

I notice all the leftwing sites (Mother Jones, Daily Beast, Washington Post) that reported this left out the judge’s name.

They need to look at the McCarran-Walter act from 1952. It’s already the law.

A federal judge blocked part of President Trump’s executive order on immigration on Saturday evening, ordering that refugees and others trapped at airports across the United States should not be sent back to their home countries. But the judge stopped short of letting them into the country or issuing a broader ruling on the constitutionality of Mr. Trump’s actions.

Congress is too gutless to impeach the corrupt judge.

“There were numerous reports of students attending American universities who were blocked from returning to the United States from visits abroad. One student said in a Twitter post that he would be unable to study at Yale.”

Hey, maybe give that spot at Yale to a US CITIZEN!

This was a lot of cr**. Both Iraqis have been released and are here.

Bet this judge is sorry she ever listened to the attorneys (probably Hillary's thugs). It was a dumb call....

Ignore it. There is plenty of precedent set by Obama about the executive role in immigration regulation. And isn’t it ironic that OBAMA himself banned Iraqi refugees and this lawsuit is from Iraqis?

Donnelly was nominated to be a federal judge by President Barack Obama on the recommendation of Sen. Charles Schumer. On Friday, she had the oath of office administered to her by Chief Judge Carol Bagley Amon.

“We are indebted to Sen. Schumer for recommending Ann Donnelly and all of the other outstanding recent appointments,” Bagley Amon said.

Donnelly had a long list of dignitaries on hand, including former Manhattan District Attorney Robert Morgenthau and Sen. Schumer, each of whom spoke on her behalf.

“I'm so pleased to be here and celebrate this moment in the journey of an exceptionally talented and well-respected jurist, Judge Ann Donnelly,” said Schumer, who described himself as a family friend of the Donnelly’s and noted that his daughter played basketball with one of Donnelly’s daughters at St. Savior.

“Ann Donnelly met all of my qualifications with flying colors,” Schumer continued. “When you speak with Judge Donnelly, what's immediately clear is her deep respect and passion for the law. Judge Donnelly is more than a brilliant resume, I know her well and at her core she is a kind, thoughtful and compassionate person."

Sure enough these protesters have to run out of steam sometime soon right? I mean how much longer are the rest of us going to be subject to them obstructing everything? Do they care about others trying to catch flights (you know...actual AMERICANS!?) or that somebody was 2 hours delayed getting home because you re routed traffic again.

When is the vast non protesting class of this country just going to stand up, slap these punks down and tell them to shut up and let our elected President do his job?

What does Judge Dora L. Irizarry have to do with this discussion?
Thanks in advance.
