Undocumented immigrant rights activist loses her battle to avoid being deported

An immigration rights activist whose own undocumented status was exposed by a drunken-driving arrest has lost her six-month legal battle to remain in the country.

Wendy Uruchi Contreras, a Virginia organizer for the immigrant rights group CASA, is scheduled to be deported to Spain this week after last-ditch appeals were denied by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials, according to her husband, Giovani Jimenez.

“We are devastated,” said Jimenez, who lives in Fredericksburg, Va., with their American-born children, Alex, 13, and Lucia, 7. “My children are crying, but we know there’s nothing more we can do.”

"Wendy Uruchi Contreras, a Virginia organizer for the immigrant rights group CASA"

Mi casa es no tu CASA!

Me thinks this is a rather poetic petard for her to be hoisted upon.

Well, joke or not, I hope this BS about half-breed presidents is quashed for good. We’ve seen the damage it can cause, and I saw tendencies in Cruz and Rubio related to patriation that troubled me as well.

I’m doing my part to make sure it never happens again, despite the flak I get from fellow FReepers, I am not giving up the protections of the natural born citizen clause.
Barry Soetoro/Barack Hussein Obama should be enough to convince anyone that the founders were right.

What is with her husband? It is not that hard to get your wife legally here if you are here legally. Petition, provisional green card Visa, and permanent green card was less than $2000. It took only eleven months from start till my wife got here.

Suck it up.

American citizens are sent to jail everyday for committing crimes.

The spouse and kids are ‘on their own’ and if other arrangements cannot be made they become wards of the state.

The illegals should be given maybe 180 days to register or voluntarily leave and be put on ‘top’ of the list to return legally.

I would even say if someone had a clean record, has employment and NOT on any Government Assistance and is contributing to Society and they are established in a community maybe some compensation can be made IF they register on time.

If a drag on the economy, they have to be shown the door.
Likewise, a criminal record.
The larger the criminal record the longer before you can apply for reentry.

If ‘we’ have to come and get you and forcibly deport you, you may never get back at least you don’t get on the list till you repay the cost involved in deporting you.

OF COURSE, without securing the borders all of this is moot.

What trucking firm hired this guy knowing he was an illegal?

Better still, did he break the law by providing false documents to get hired?

How sad for the kids, who are American citizens,<

Their "citizenship" should be revoked, and sent out of the country with their parents.

She’ll be back. But next time she will keep her mouth shut about illegals and their “rights”.

My parents had to vouch for my mother’s best friend when she wanted to come here.
They had to promise they would provide housing, food, clothing, medical care, anything she would need until she was able to establish herself. She lived with us while she went back to school to fulfill the requirements necessary to get her professional credentials in line with those of the US. She went on to own a business and become a citizen. She took nothing from the government, my parents helped her but it was their choice and their gift to her.
I think anyone immigrating here should be sponsored in this same manner.

I guess I look at it like this. If they are upset about being separated, they can all go back to Spain.

Oh dont interpret that I give a ####.

I’m a little soft when it comes to kids, but my nephews and nieces and your kin are MUCH MORE important to me!

My father did it the right way from Italy. So did mom’s grandparents.
