Mayor Rahm Emanuel and the Chicago Park District are entranced by the prospect of a gorgeous, challenging golf course on the South Side near the yet-to-be-built Obama Presidential Center. It is a project with star appeal, beginning with Tiger Woods.
But we have to ask: Does a fancy, professional-caliber golf course like this best serve Chicagoans, especially those on the South Side? Or is this about helping President Barack Obama improve his golf game?

Does a fancy, professional-caliber golf course like this best serve Chicagoans
Are you Kidding?? All dem rich golfers got stuff we want, we need people like this so we can get back to work Raping, Robbing, and Car Jacking.
Chicongo needs a golf course like 900 more of its residents need a hole in their head.
This is only to get the Kenyanesian Usurper to visit his library once in a while.
“Midnight golf” to keep kids out of trouble.
Everyone knows after a couple of games of pick-up hoops, Southsiders always like to end the day with 18 holes.
Thank GOD obozo is there to provide.
haha! just plunk down a beautiful new golf course in the middle of area that residents likely cannot afford to go play often and many probably have no real interest in playing the game? Seems stupid from business sense because overwhelming majority of it’s customers will have to be out of towners.
Obama Presidential Center? Is this a fancy Chicago word for mosque?
That would be great. Cafeteria, locker room attendant, maintenance, parking attendant, jobs galore. And don’t forget the greens fees to pay for all of this because rich white folk want to go to the south side to play golf.
It is a project with star appeal, beginning with Tiger Woods.

The appeal to South Chicagoans of multi-millionaire celebrities like Tiger is to instantly become famous by shooting him.
It’ll provide a clear view for drive by shootings and a club house to rip off. What’s a nice new set of clubs going for on the streets these days? Can’t see a thug breaking into anything with “library” over the door so that’s safe.
It’s good to be King.
Well, depending on what gets torn doen to make it, it might be an upgrade ... for a while.
Fantastic location for a golf course. And the plan to combine the two makes sense. The tricky part would be designing it so that it can host the pros, yet still be open to the public.
Get the Thugs and Drugs out, rebuild the Families and Communities then consider nicities like Golf Courses.
>>Fantastic location for a golf course.<<
What the guys on this thread don’t understand is that this is not just a “South Side” thing. This is a fast drive from downtown Chicago. And for those that don’t know, Chicago’s central business district is concentrated into one location. You do not have commercial towers spread out among multiple locations in the city. So anyone working or living, working or visiting downtown could also be on the green pretty fast.
It’ll be trashed in no time. In fact, they’ll need 24 hr armed security just to get it built.
But, I’m happy to see that Rahm’s priorities are straight.
“Trump National Golf Course, Chicago” has a mighty fine ring to it.
Sounds like it should be declared a national monument in honor of the only legacy Obama has left.
For whatever reason(s), this zone of iniquity turned recreational facility is now just another of Fort Dodge's nondescript parks gone to seed, having neither greens nor golfers. Oh, what might have been had they gotten a HUD grant for a pro shop and a satellite location of the Obama Presidential Library...
Wild guess says that the land to be used for this golf course coincides with the same land/slums that owner Valerie Jarrett intended to sell for Chicago’s Olympic efforts 7 years ago.
