As a builder, Trump is probably aware that they've may have been pushing the margins on safety up until now. If he wants new media to have access, they need more room.

I have zero, absolutely zero faith they would start performing any kind of unbiased "scrutiny" under President Trump. From a purely technical perspective it is a very logical idea to have one room dedicated solely to information sharing. The WH cannot support that. Every presser has to be set up from scratch and loaded out afterwards. Same as the capital, prior to and immediately after. Security is taxed, the infrastructure is in disarray, operations and daily routine are disturbed or halted altogether.
A dedicated site next door makes much more sense to the organized mind. Anything else reflects disjointed and disorganized planning.
