Dershowitz: I'll Leave Democratic Party If Ellison Becomes DNC Chair

While Alan Dershowitz is a staunch liberal, he’s threatening to leave the Democratic Party should Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN) become the next chairman for the national committee. Dershowitz, a renowned attorney and Israel supporter, said he would resign due to Ellison’s positions on the Israeli-Palestinian issue and his association with Louis Farrakhan (via Washington Examiner):

Speaking on Fox Business, Dershowitz said there is a divide in the Democratic Party over Jewish issues, particularly the support of Israel, or lack thereof, offered by the Obama administration. Dershowitz said Ellison's past praise of Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan is enough to make him and other Jews leave the party. "It does, and if they now appoint Keith Ellison, who worked with Farrakhan, to be chairman of the DNC you're going to see a lot of people leave" Dershowitz said. "I'm going to tell you right here on this show and this is news, if they appoint Keith Ellison to be chairman of the Democratic Party, I will resign my membership to the Democratic Party after 50 years of being a loyal Democrat."

Alan Dershowitz is just another atheist who has no grounds for any of his beliefs about morality, ethics, and “justice.” Leaving the Democrat party won’t change that.

In the DNC world devoid of a Pro-Israel / Pro-Defense conscious ( aka the purging of Joe Lieberman, and at times I am no huge fan of his ) Dershowitz maybe all the DNC has as a modicum of sanity for Reform Jews. Forget Schumer and all other in the Senate, they are too far gone. Without getting into the particulars, I am close to the Reform community and talking politics and building bridges to the non-conservative Reform Jews is a challenge and at times, I am the go-to guy to explain the other side. I'll take allies where I can find them, I'll take Alan at this word and run w/ him as an ally at times for DJT.

You may not be getting it, Dershowitz has a lot of cred in the community, don't discount this or blow this chance, Ellison is a bad dude IMHO...

Reading the comments, what I get is that Ellison is viewed as an awful dude but Alan lacks creds with our side of things because he’s been with Dems for so long, no matter what they do, until now he’s threatening to leave over Ellison.

If you’re saying he has creds in a specific type of Jewish Community, that isn’t addressing the views from our side of politics that see him so negatively.

The democrats have been anti-Jewish since the beginning of the "Jewish issue", and they've been anti-Israel since democrats decided to turn Muslims into victims since Israel wont surrender their homeland to those Muslims.

Obama is just the latest proponent of anti-Israel policies, and Ellison is the problem personified.

So, why are people such as Dershowitz anti-Israel themselves? Belonging to the democratic party is anti-Israel itself.

Actually, Dershowitz is a very smart man. He has at least 70 IQ points over Ellison.

Yes, he is a super liberal but he has stood by principle on many occasions.

Yes, he is a Jew who obviously wouldn’t want a Muslim in that position but he has shown himself to be a supporter of Israel.

here is nothing wrong with Keith Ellison Allen.

Keith is a Muslim and thinks blacks should be shipped off to live in their own country just like all the other white Democrats.

Before the election, Dershowitz was a guest on Mark Simone’s show in NYC. Mark supported Trump from Day 1 & Dershowitz supported Hillary. They had a mild disagreement on the air & Dershowitz actually hung up on Simone, which was bizarre because Mark is polite to his guests.
