The Syrian government and rebel groups have agreed a nationwide ceasefire from midnight local time (22:00 GMT) on Thursday, followed by peace talks.

The deal was confirmed by Russian President Vladimir Putin and confirmed by the Turkish foreign ministry.

Russia and Turkey, which back opposing sides, will act as guarantors.

The rebel High Negotiations Committee (HNC), seen by the UN as main opposition group, confirmed the deal, which excludes certain jihadist groups.

Putin and Erdrogan have struck a deal in Syria for a ceasefire and peace talks even as the sabre rattlers like McCain and Obama beat the drums against Russia.

Another failure of the Obama-Kerry regime. Kerry, who has always been a moronic narcissistic buffoon, had no business being Sec of State. After listing to enough of his bloviating narcissistic ranting, the rest of the world simply cut him out of any serious business.

How long will it take for an Obama armed ‘rebel’ to break it?

One can’t help but wonder if it’s a coordinated maneuver to go after the “rebels” that have been armed and trained by the CIA.

Vladimir Putin announced the ceasefire agreement, saying it is ‘fragile.’

The BBC live update on the ceasefire story.

“Russian President Vladimir Putin has described today’s casefire agreement as ‘fragile’.

He said his country’s military would scale down its presence in Syria, but did not say how many troops and weapons would be withdrawn.

He said Russia would keep ‘fighting international terrorism in Syria’ and would keep a military presence at its sir base and naval facility, in Latakia an Tartus respectively.

‘The agreements reached are of course fragile and need special attention and involvement for their preservation and development. But nevertheless, this is a notable result of our joint work and efforts by the defense and foreign ministries and our partners in the region’

President Putin “

This is wonderful news for the civilians that were used as human shields by the FSA/ISIS terrorist. It is sad but when the enemy hides in the people as in Aleppo and Mosul, victory will demand collateral damage if the people refuse to leave.because the enemy must be annihilated.

Trump has now been invited to participate in the peace talks. Obama and Kerry were snubbed.

He was busily bloviating about Israel, so they took advantage of his absence and negotiated a cease fire. Probably arranged with Bibi that he and others should keep condemning his speech, then condemning his speech defending his speech, and condemning that speech. It was like a flame war, and it bought time for Russia and Syria.

Someone fired rockets at the Russian Embassy in Damascus in recent hours.

Putin called the cease fire ‘fragile’ and no doubt it is.

A lot of players aren’t in it, the former “Al Nusra”, Kurdish YPG group, the Islamic State aren’t in it.

I would support destruction of the jihadis, but not the Kurds.

But Putin looks like he’s trying to bring peace to the region right now, that’s what I see.

In all fairness, they had already cut us out of the more important discussions during the Clinton tenure.

Was it Obama or McCain who said there would be no peace and no stop of migrants until Assad was removed from power?
